Just a small note: The EK9 and other Japanese EK Civics share the same side mirrors. They all fold in and are electric.

My point: it doesn't matter if it's from a Type R or not. It's a shared Civic part. Not in any way meaning to hate.

Enjoy your new toy...

actually..if its a real CTR mirror, it will fold in/out when you pull the ebrake up/down.

Huh??

Are you sure about this? I know for a fact this is not the case for the 98-99 CTR. If it's the 99+ EK9 then I will check it tomorrow and post back.

ebay, $230 +shipping

thanks, i'll enjoy it as soon as i figure out how to get the wiring setup done.

the e-brake folding option is only a matter of wirework. once i figure out how to wire everything up so all is functional (power mirror and power fold), i will run a wire to the ebrake cable for that option as well.

thanks for the posts, keem em coming.

anyone have the relavent info regarding the wiring of the CTR side mirrors in my EK, please post! thanks

Actually, for a fact, it's not triggered by the handbrake (that's what you mean by e-brake right?)

Think about how ridiculous that would be; imagine stopping at a traffic light and using the handbrake to hold the car. The mirrors start folding in? Hmm... don't think so. Maybe on an auto car, it might make more sense (though still quite silly).

A CTR is manual and meant to be driven hard. If the driver uses the handbrake to tuck his rear in on high speed turns (not something I personally practise) then the mirrors start to fold in/out?

Anyway, I'm sure it could be wired to behave this way. It's not really anything to do with the mirrors, it's how you choose to wire them up. From the factory, they are operated by a small button near the controls to adjust the side mirror tilt.

Cheers...

Man that's a lot of money to be spending, especially to add weight to your car. They're useless in america. I hope you know why the JDM cars have the folding mirrors.

Do they CTR mirrors actually look different?
They fold, the mirrors move... but to me they look the same!

For wiring, you can try Mark Pacpaco's webpage; it's actually info for the EG mirrors so the switch obviously looks different, but you might understand which wires do what.

If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost you to get the mirrors painted? I know everywhere is different i just want to get an estimate of how much they cost where your at. I was quoted $125 to get them painted and that seemed pretty high. Thanks Ryan

I seen a pic of a HB, with litterally 3" of space between either side. How the hell the driver got out, I guess he climbed out of the hatch heh.
Anyways heres a diagram. If you figure it out. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me an email as to which colored wire connects to which JDM wire. I put them on in Feb, wired up the 5 main wires. Took about 4hrs to figure it out (without a diagram). But I had the up/down backwards. Feeling like a genius, I figured I'd just switch the wires. Well, 5 months later I still dont have them wired up

BTW this came from a guy with a SN EKNine. Dunno if he posts here though. Hope this helps.
Again send me a email when you figure it out

Hey I have always had a question about JDM mirrors. Does the left side mirror (driver side for us) say, "Objects in mirror may appear smaller than they actually are?". So, will the mirrors be weird, like the driver side be convex, and the passenger side be flat? Just curious

I think that's a US requirement or something because it doesn't say it on my EG6... (and I've seen pictures of US EG/EH 92-95 Civics with "objects appear blah blah blah")

I wanted to get those mirrors, except my CDN SiR has a heated driver side mirror, and the button for the heater is the same button as the power folding button. Maybe I should get the non folding ones and just rig up my heater instead... looks only then.

Just another thought. How cool would it be if you rigged the mirrors to auto fold when the car is turned off. That would be so hot.

The mirrors dont say jack. Yea, the driver side (ours) mirror is convex and the passenger one is flat. But you get used to it.

if the parking is so tight(thus the use of these is relevant), then do the orientals get out through their window? lol seriously lol
