Default Track exhaust

I am looking to get a new exhaust and I am wondering what you are running or what you would recommend? If you are runnng it, is is on a dedicated track car or is it a street/track car?

Integra Street car/HPDE: Skunk2 cat back and DC sports header (Integra) currently, and eventually it will the same basic unit as the CRX exhaust mentioned below.

CRX Race car: Custom exhaust using one Magnaflow resonator and turn down behind gas tank.

DD\HPDE car: RSR Exmag, new cat, stock header (for now). Great setup for the street as it is quiet at low throttle %, louder when you stomp on it. I ran a gutted cat at a track event and it was a little too loud for my tastes (got annoying), with a cat its a little quiet. I'd rather have the latter though.

I looked up a picture of a turndown, but what does it actually do? Is it really beneficial? And what's glasspack

its an exhaust tip that turnsdown... glasspack is a muffler

is a car running a race header (no cat) and a straight pipe with a glasspack and turndown going to be bearable on the street? or is this sort of setup just TOO aggressive for a street car. i'm going to be getting a race header with a 2.5" collector soon and and i'm trying to figure out what to do with exhaust. its not going on a race car, but i autocross and do track days. any suggestions?

Everytime I get out of my racecar and I forget to wear earplugs, I'm deaf for a couple of days. That's with a helmet. It's not good.

Don't do it, or every cop for miles will turn his head when you get on the gas.

-Chris

p.s. you could take off your muffler for track days, but a lot of tracks and autocrosses have dB limits anyway.

Ha i knew a guy running a similar setup. I went for a ride with him and couldnt hear him talking to me 2 feet away. Even with cheap earplugs, id say it was borderline unbearable.

On my Civic that I was driving to events last year I put a flange in about 4 inches from where the turndown would go. I then made a full length piece that had a muffler that exited out the back of the car. It wasn't bad on the street. When I'd get to the event as I was changing my wheels I'd change my exhaust. Remove to bolts and unhook two hangers to drop the rear section. Bolt up the turndown and bwahhahahahahahahahaha the car was nice and loud again. Oh I threw a resonator in the mix in the straight section before the turndown.

I got kicked out of the last ax with a 22" resonator and a magnaflow oval muffler. So id look for something on the quiet side if you know where you race has db limits.

Really? I couldn't imagine something like that being that loud with the oval muffler and long resonator.

Yeah im thinking the muffler/res **** the bed when I put a tad more oil in and it spit it out through the exhaust.

Im ordering a baffled muffler tonight, in hopes I can get it quieter for th next event.

Out of curiousity what is a safe exhaust to put on and meet the noise requirements of the tracks that have restrictions.
I personally dont like those over priced cat back systems when you can use 2.5 pipe and such.
What would anyone suggest.. 2.5 tubing, resonator or no resonator, muffler/glasspak with or with out a baffle???
Whats proven to pass at Infineon and T-Hill.. Doesn't Laguna have noise restrictions too?

what about a race header (no cat), 2.5" piping, 22" and 18" resonator, and an N1ish style muffler?
