Friends RSX was runnign great, and now the rpm is cutting off at 5k. what can the problem be? we have no clue, car still running perfectly smoothe besides the rpm cutting off at exactly 5k. Help Greatly appreciated. Thank You.

 

What are the mods and is there a check engine light on?

 

Type S,has Header, Intake, and ECU is chipped other than that car is stock....and yes, engine light is on

The k20 has a header not headers. What "chip" is in the ECU? If it's Kpro hook up a laptop and check the code.

I'm assuming only when in neutral?

 

If it has K-pro check to see if cutoff was accidently set to 5k.

yeah thats what it should be in neutral. plus i think the limp mode limiter is lower than that too

Correct, it should be like that only when in neutral. It won't go pass 5,000 rpm.

That's for the '05-'06's, don't know if it applies to the '02-'04's.

OK, i guess there is no problem at all since its normal cause he does have the 05, Thank you all for the help and letting me know its normal....else could of driven us nuts trying to figure out a problem that dont exist

It sort of reacts like a two step in a way. It's completely normal.
