Default 07 Accord headunit install and 6 1/2 components

Two quick questions for an install on a 2007 Accord

1) Aftermarket headunit- Can the stock head unit be removed? The only install kits I found were relocation kits?

2) To install a 6 1/2 component system in the car do I need adapters for the speakers to fit?

Thanks

Anyone?

Well I found this:

Seems a little pricey just to keep my cubby that is at the bottom.

You may be better off using a device like the JL Audio CleanSweep, that metra dash kit is hit or miss (usually miss) for the new accords.

I'd rather make a custom cutout on the stock piece and perhaps pac-swi makes something that could be used/modofied so you could still retain all your factory buttons on the wheel and have a double-din or single din HU installed. But some people like the metra one after some modifications...

I'm thinking I might just get the kit that fits in the bottom cubby hole. It's cheaper and I won't have to mess with custom fitting anything. I read up more on the metra one and people were saying it's not made well and some were using the stock ***** because the aftermarket ones didn't light up the same.
