Symptoms of a blown shock / strut. Shocks are off the car ..
Hey guys I have a question. I've been really think that my shocks are blown. Is there anyway I can find out while the suspension is out ? Or would it be easier to determine if the suspension was on the car ?
Thanks for your input.

With no spring on, compress it down completely, It should give you quite a bit of resistance, once down, it should come back up gradually. If it compresses very easily or does not decompress then you are most likely dealing with a blown strut/shock.

Cool. I did this and as you said there was resistance and the shock did come back up, but very slowly. Does that mean anything ?

That's exactly what made me question whether the shocks were blown or not, but it could be that I'm just not used to the stiffness of full coilovers lol

Well, ride quality is really a subjective thing if you have never had anything else to compare it to. Blown shocks tend to feel bouncy because the shocks dont dampen the movement properly.

Sounds like your stuff is ok. It does take awhile to get used to riding on coilovers for the first time. They are much less forgiving than the typical lowering spring.
