Default Car won't shift

I have a 2004 Civic Si with 60,000 miles on it. I was driving back to New York from Indianapolis, and had been driving for about 9 hours at 80mph. When I was exiting the highway, I could not get my car out of fifth gear. Once I stopped the car, and turned it off I continued to have the problem for a minute or two, but then, while the car was off, I was able to shift the car. I tried starting it, and it started(with a little grinding), but wouldnt shift. Anyone know what my problem is?

what rpm were u trying to shift at?

Btw although you drive a 2004 civic your car the 2004 civic SI is classified as an "EP3".
So your section to ask questions about your car would be in the
"Acura RSX DC5 & Honda Civic EP3" forum.

Sorta happens to me sometimes. After driving back from New Jersey up to school, going about 80-85 in 6th gear for about 2 -2 1/2 hours. It can seem a little hard to shift in or out of gear for a bit. But loosens up after I come to a stop.
Bump for an answer on this...
