Default Whirring Sound From Tranny?

Ok so here goes I was opening up the car, 1st to 2nd was smooth but when i went to go shift it into 3rd i missed it and went into 1st by accident. Now first of all i dont know why Honda made 1st and 3rd so close together because i've had a 00 Civic Si and a 350z and never had that problem EVER. But anywhoo after that i noticed a sound coming from the tranny which was a whirring sound while driving all gears but mainly 3rd around 20-30 mph. Now at first i was ahh it is normal don't even worry about it but then it started getting to me so i went to take it in. Well i found out that the tranny was expletiveed. First dealer said i would have to pay because of driver error then i took it to the original honda dealer i bought my car from and they put it on my warrenty. Everything came out to be $4100.

I met another person that has the same problem over the weekend so thats the reason why i'm writing this. He also thought it was nothing till i explained my problem and he had the same situation. So if anyone else is having this problem it is your tranny FYI...

1st and 3rd aren't THAT close together. But, it is a 'close-ratio short shifter'. What do you expect? The tranny out of a dump truck? I have never ever upshifted or downshifted into the wrong gear, in this car. I am glad you got your s**t fixed though.

Not out of a dump truck but maybe a mini truck would of been nice ... I still dont know how i managed to do that going from 2nd to 3rd but the guy that i talked to over the weekend said he went from 3rd to 2nd so that made me feel a lot better about myself LMAO...

Haha. Well, either way, I'm glad the warranty is covering that. I hope, if I ever f**k anything up, that my dealership will be as friendly.

Thanks, i'm happy it covered it also thats a lot of money out my pocket... BUT the first place I brought it to were ******** which is why I will never go there again. They were the ones trying to charge me to fix it. I would rather drive the distance going to where I bought my car rather than go to the place near my house.

J/W is anyone else having that sound problem???

Oh yeah i know, thats been an issue for a while now... i'm glad the 08 havent been having that problem as far as i know yet **knocks on wood**. There's a couple people from a 8thgen that have actually protested in front of the dealership which i thought was pretty cool...

yeah, my dad and i have been on the phone with important honda reps and people other than those who work at the dealership. i am SOOOOO close to getting mine fixed. we talked to this guy named Scott who is a Honda Service Rep in the birmingham alabama area, he has been really helpful and he has been on the phone with tameron (my dealership) and is having me take the car back into them and they will run it through numerous tests hoppefully ending up in a new tranny (fingers crossed)

thats awesome that they covered it. ive heard of other dealerships doing it. but if a dealership will warranty a tranny from someone mis-shifting that makes me feel really comfortable about them fixing things that go wrong on my car
