ive got an '89 crx dx and the heater quit working on me the other night and i cant figure out why. ive checked the fuses and relays and everything looks good. the only other thing i can think of is the fan switch on the control unit. i dont want to tear apart the center console if i dont have to so please anyone with any other suggestions please let me know...

Ouch, well here is your problem:

1.) Most likely its your fan motor. I have had to replace many of these and they are NOT fun!

2.) Check your switches in the control unit

3.) There is a short cut to replacing the fan, follow the instructiions in the repair manual you SHOULD ALREADY HAVE, and then you can sqeeze the new fan into the cage using a RATCHETING end wrench and some enginuity.

If all you have is a repair manual, I feel sorry for your car.

I have the manual that tells you how to maintain your car, not just wait till it breaks then fix it.

 

ok... got the fan out. now how do i go about checking to see if its good.
