Default suspension installation advice !

ok... its a struggle so ill get straight to the point.. a freind of mine told me i should definitely get an alignment after i install the shocks. i do not know how to install the shocks myself so i will get help to install them. i visited by couple stores where they gave installation of springs+shocks + alignment for 200.00 in total. should i grab this deal and go for it or should i do the installation and shocks myself ? if anyone has better ideas, they can chip in !!! or better yet if anyone lives in the 818 area, the better

comments appreciated !!

200 isnt bad. because usually its 60 bucks for an alignment and the rest is how nice the guy is. haha but if you like the DIY experience which I would recommend because you'll know exactly whats going on if something were to go wrong later. But if you're pressed for time and whatnot, just pay the 200. its not a bad price, but im sure someone will tell you lower

$ 200.00 sounds like a great deal for a full suspension install + alignment. Ofcourse, to learn how to do the suspension by yourself is priceless .. So I dont know, your call. You won't be able to do an alignment by yourself and a shop will usually charge around $ 70.00 for a 4-wheel alignment alone.
My recc. ... get a weekend off from work, do the job, take your time, and go to a shop for an alignment. You'll save $130.00 plus you'll learn while you're at it.

DIY is a good way to learn. I would also recommend a quick assessment first.

1. Do you have the right tools? You will need jack, jack stands, socket set, wrench set, spring compressor, torque wrench. etc. You can borrow most basic tools from certain auto parts stores (if available in your area). Having the right tools will get the job done correctly the first time.

2. Since you haven't installed suspension before, do you have someone to assist or teach you?

3. Can you afford some down time of your car? It doesn't take long to install suspensions but it will take a little longer if you are doing it for the first time and hopefully doing it the correct way.

4. Keep in mind that you still need an alignment done after the suspension installation.
