Default I need a Mugen S1 seat rail!

I just picked up a slightly used Mugen S1 for a good deal and I need to locate a set of driver's side seat rails. King won't have any in until early August, but I'm trying to get the seat installed in time for a late July event. I don't really have the time to fabricate and get another brand to work, and I want to keep the slider in case the seat ever needs to be moved. Does anyone have a set of new or used Mugen S1 seat rails? I'm interested in buying them ASAP, so please send me an IM or email at AcuraNSX01@aol.com

Thanks.

King promised me a set 'in two weeks' two months ago. Truth is they have no control over Mugen production and August may even be optimistic. I had to buy a temporary Sparco rail for my driver side.

Nope...who would you recommend I talk to?

King is backordered because of a backorder at Mugen in Japan...so I don't think they will be too easy to get over there either. I'm hoping that someone has one in stock somewhere...

Tell me if you find a source. To the best of my knowledge, King are the only source in the US.

A local fabricator can do this for you in a few hours.

Paying someone to fabricate it will probably cost almost as much as buying the rail in question. I would prefer to get the rail that was made for the seat so that I can just bolt it in and still have the slider in case I need it. If I get absolutely desperate, then I'll start looking at other options.

I have a 9mo. old Mugen rail (driver side). I might trade my used one for your "on-order, new" Mugen rails. Let me know if you really need it that bad.

Hi,

How does the Mugen seat mount (bottom or side)?

If bottom, how far apart are the mounting holes?

If side mount what is the width of the seat, mounting hole to mounting hole and how far apart are the mounting holes on each side?

The reason I ask this is that I am putting in an OMP seat (this weekend I hope) and if I use the original slider system all I need is some steel angle 2" X 2" by about 14" long on each side. Drill 8 holes and I'm set!

Mugen rail is side mount, but can accomodate two (2) different heights/positions for the seat you're installing.

I don't know what the rail measures across... always forget.

I also don't have any pics handy, 'cuz for some reason I always forget to take pics of them.

They are great as you can slide your bucket seat to just about any position. Can't go wrong with Mugen rails unless your seats are too narrow or two big to fit.

I will double check this tomorrow, but I think the side-to-side distance between the side-mounting points on a Mugen rail is 395mm. The fore-to-aft distance between the holes is 290m or 295mm.

I dug out my notes. I took A ROUGH measurement a few weeks ago and got 16.5 (420mm) side to side on the stock ITR slider and 11.5 (290mm)inches fore and aft.

This is a shot in the dark, but with some washers, longer bolts and a little sweat you MIGHT be able to use the stock sliders.

Went to three shops during lunch..

1st shop laughed at me
2nd shop wanted me to order it but wouldn't give me a delivery date
3rd shop owner kept telling me to use my bride rail.

I have three more shops to visit and I think my friends shop will give me the best answer. He will be back from Tokyo tomorrow.

Why did they laugh at you?

Thanks a lot for checking. I'll look forward to an update from the second round of shopping.

They laughed because Mugen bitch slapped them for selling parts too cheap! They are no longer an authorized Mugen dealer.
