I currently have a '97 ek coupe, but i've wanted a hatchback as my project car for a long time, and right now i've found a couple of them 4 sale. One is a '96 and the other a '97, the only thing i don't like is that neither comes with power locks and windows, do they make any hatchbacks with power locks/windows? would it be easy or fairly inexpensive to get a conversion for it?. Any help would be appreciated, 'cause i don't want to buy it and later regret it. thaxxx!!!
They don't make hatches in the US with power locks/windows. You can, however get the floor harness, door harness, door internals, door panels, and switches from a Civic EX. It takes about 8 hours to do EVERYTHING. Requires removal of fenders, carpet, seats, center console, door panels, and rear seats.
So if everyone came on here and told you, no dont get it, you wouldnt? Do what you want. To answer your question. No hatches dont come with power. You can however do a custom power install if you can piece everything together. You will need the complete power switch setups, the power window tracks, and either the floor harness from a 96-00 civic that has power or you can hardwire everything. Its not hard just takes time. So if you want something to work on and dont mind some customization, than it can be done. Only you can decide if you should buy a hatch.
