Default clutch, differential or axle??!! help!!!

98 JDM type R. car will only shudder under load. Especially during highway speeds. Thought it was wheels, so got them all rebalanced but nothing. Engine revs fine when I step on the clutch but as soon as it engages again the car will shudder like it has a warped rotor when I step on the gas. does it in all gears. Didn't start doing it till after a car wash!! weird. could it be differential, bound axel? or clutch? was stuck in traffic two days ago and after I got off ramp the car smelled like burnt clutch for a good 15 minutes.....could this be the culprit? ACT HDSS clutch with prolite flywheel..... any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
