Timing belt keeps breaking!!!
I have a 95 2.3 liter prelude the engine has been completely rebuilt with a brand new head but it has broke 3 timing belts (i bought it for $1000 yesterday the guy didnt know much about it). I have taken the cover off and put on a new timing belt on it and left the cover off and cranked it, the valves sounded fine but i noticed the timing belt was sliding over and hitting the tensioner for the secondary pump for the oil pump, the smaller belt. I belive it to be the timing belt tensioner i am going to reaplce that today, i would like to get some other suggestions if you guys dont mind.
Well for one if the bet is sliding out of place that is your problem. Something isnt even on the pulleys somewhere. Take belt off and look for pulleys that wiggle strangely.
yea the only reasons that belt would slide off would be either defective belts that aren't perfectly parallel and all that, or some of the pulleys aren't on straight.
since this has been multiple belts, i'll bet on pulleys. when i recently rebuilt my hybrid, my timing belt would start to come off just from hand cranking the motor. my problem was a missing washer under the tensioner pulley stud. check it out.
