Default Shifting problem after long periods of time

After driving my 93 honda civic for a while, i can't change gears, i literally have to pull the gear in with alot of force... i noticed my shift linkage is right over my exhaust, does it have to do something with the heat... what do you guys think

Check your tranny fluid.

If you have a hydrolic clutch, check your fluid level. Try bleeding it and filling it back up. Or your clutch could be going out. Or maybe your throwout bearing that makes the clutch catch and release could be going out. Maybe your tranny is going out. These are all problems i had with my del sol when the clutch went out and i had to limp all the way home in first gear. Replaced the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing and nows shes shifting like a champ. Good luck!
