Default Wheel and tire dilemma. I need to act fast. Whats the best deal/situation?

Right now the CRX is sitting on a flat, ive had the car 3 almost 4 years with the steelies and whatever tires it had on it when I got it never replacing them or anything.

DTD =
4 Pirelli P4 P185/65R-14
4 Black 14" Steelies
mounted
balanced
$434 shipped

Tire Rack =
4 Kumho Solus KR21 185/60TR-14
4 Black 14" Steelies
mounted
balanced
$385.14 shipped

I need tires for the crx like as fast as possible. I have a second vehicle i don't want to drive that much.

I already have a set of wheels with Falken Ziex 512's waiting to be shipped already at DTD, but will be around 2 weeks for the wheels to come off backorder. Those will be my nice set. I need a set that will last me a long time in the crx.

Well, for a CRX, the size you need is 185/60-14, not 185/65-14. So you need to buy tires that are the right size.

What's the purpose for these wheels, vs the ones that will be shipped in a few weeks? For example - If you plan to only use them in winter, why not get some winter tires?

Also, why can't you just get the flat repaired, so that you can use the tires on the car until the new ones show up?

I would like to have a second set of wheels/tires on the side that will last forever. Apparantly the Falken ziex512's don't last that long. I might be taking 5hr 1way interstate trips in the crx to get body work etc... done on it back home down south. I make frequent trips down there and instead of putting miles on my newer car I would rather not. Winter is almost over. I did look at getting some winterforce M+S tires.

I think mainly i want a tire that will be decent in the winter and still give me a ton of miles out of it, which probably doesn't exist in such a tire. I might end up getting 3 sets of wheels/tires. A winter set, a touring set, and the wheels with the falken ziex512's i have on backorder.

Also when I get the wheels/tires in from backorder, i am not putting them on until i put my suspension on, and i have no idea when that will be.

Well, the Ziex ZE-512 lasts a pretty long time. It's a crappy (but cheap) tire, but short treadlife isn't one of its downsides. Whoever told you that was mistaken and was probably thinking of the supersticky Falken Azenis RT-615. THAT tire doesn't last long at all. But the ZE-512 has good treadlife.

I don't know, if I were you I would get the winter set now, since it's winter and you may as well buy something you'll actually need in the future, after your new wheels and tires come in. Also, winter tires usually last a long time, because you're only driving on them for roughly three months a year. It's not a good time of year to order winter tires; the Blizzaks are out of stock in 185/60-14. But the Tire Rack has the Dunlop Graspic DS-2 in that size.

I wouldn't recommend the Winterforce M+S. That tire is designed to be used with studs, and studded tires are illegal here in Illinois. Besides, the best studless winter tires grip just as well as studded tires, and most of the time, even better.

If you might be using them year round, then you might want to get all-seasons instead of winter tires (although all-seasons don't grip as well in winter as winter tires do). The best all-seasons available in 185/60-14 are the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position.
