Default Oxygen Sensor, DOHC ZC.

I've bought a new oxygen sensor after my car started throwing a code 1. I checked out where the sensor is to see if there were any loose connections, and i realised it was in the worst position ever. I can't get any tools to fit so i can unscrew the sensor.

Any idea's? For reference the sensor is sandwiched between the header and the engine block. I dont really want to have to buy new ghaskets.. Which is the only reason i wont just take off the header. Unless its possible to use the old ghaskets?...

TIA.

you can often get by using old gaskets it might cause a slight exhaust leak but your o2 sensor problem should be fixed. that being said gaskets are not really that expensive.

Everythings expensive for Honda's here. But more importantly nothings open on Sunday's, and my car's supposed to pass an inspection on Monday.

That sucks....I didn't realize that they had inspections in funky town. anyhow good luck the old gaskets should work until you can get new ones.

Cheers.

I replaced the sensor, was the biggest PITA ever. Seems the front crossmember needed to be lowered, or the radiator taken out to remove the whole header ( the bolts attaching the two halves had seized). I ended up just lucking getting the spanner in there and only being able to get it out once the sensor was off.

Didnt make a difference to the poor idle which started up the same time as i got the CEL.

Havent got a CEL since though, so i can hope.

is it a rough idle or just a high rpm? if it is just high check the throttle cable for kinks and adjustment. if it is rough run over the normal stuff (spark plugs ect) hopefully there won't be any problems with the inspection because of that.

It seems to be able to sustain idle sometimes, just sometimes it will idle really low and pulse.

It passed inspection finally. I'll be taking it to get my plates changed over tomorrow hopefully.

check the dizzy cap if it is cracked and has water inside that could cause the pulse (misfire) espcially on wet days
