Unless you get a Japanese 92-95 hatchback with the B16A motor in it then its a EH for the US.

EH2 = 1992-1995 USDM CX/VX/DX hatch
EH3 = 1992-1995 USDM Si hatch
EJ? = 1992-1995 Civic Coupe OR 1996-up Civic hatch, coupe, or 4-door

EG6 = 1992-1995 JDM Civic SiR/SiRII hatch

EG? = there are EG 4-doors in the U.S, but no hatches even though you will see most 1992-1995 Civics referred to as EG even if they are indeed, an EH.

......Tom, if you hadn't gone and done all of this signature changing, you wouldn't have had to type as much .

How's your car?

Anyone else notice that some people insist on using EH instead of EG...but still use EK to refer to the 96-00 civics...instead of EJ?

Or maybe I'm the only nut for consistencies.

I try to use EH, but people then ask me "Isn't it an EG?" or some crapola.

I just say 1996-2000 hatch if I'm referring to them, because EJ could be a 1994 EX coupe.

i agree with tom's old sig, but doesn't the engine type play a key role in the model designation? i.e. if you swaped a d16z6 into a cx, then wouldn't you have somethng closer to a eh3 than an eh2?

I don't think so.

Just because I have a Type R engine and better suspension and brakes doesn't mean that I could rightfully call my car a Civic Type R.

The chassis code deals with the CHASSIS which doesn't even have anything to do with the engine.

And for the del Sol's:

EG217 - DOHC Vtec's
EG219 - DOHC Vtec with el. Trans Top
EH616 & EH626 - the other ones

this are numbers from europe, you may have other ones in US.
