Default Rev hang + lightweight flywheel

I searched the archives and recent posts and have read through them......using "rev" as my search keyword

However, I did not see any that referenced the rev hang w/ a lightweight flywheel....

can anyone tell me if it is "more" or "less" prevelant w/ the flywheel?

and which flywheel you are using....

thanks

anyone have any thoughts or experience w/ this?

I have a LW flywheel in the ITR, and the revs drop really fast between shifts......

just curious if this holds true w/ the SI also......

In theory it should, but w/ the dbw it is obviously more computer controlled.....

im not sure how many people have experience with this b/c the only people w/ rev-hang would be those with an 06si i think. most if not all hated it so much that they got the factory reflash that got rid of it the second the reflash came out and before doing any clutch/flywheel work.

the rev hang is still there on 07-08 models....

I was driving one on wednesday......

In theory the lightweight flyweel should cut it down, but w/ the dbw(ecu calibrations) I am not so sure.....

it is a bit more laggy than a cable TB, but its not nearly as bad as when the 06Si came out. That was my biggest peave when I got the Si after owning a prelude with an 8lb fw for 5 years, but with time I got used to it.

Good question. I would also like to hear the answer from someone with experience. I loved the Fidanza on my 00. It should help!

06 Had the hang bad, 07 and 08 still have a hang, it's apart of their "burn off things before they go into the enviroment" thing.

I kinda like the revhang....makes it easier for smoother shifts.....

maybe i'm a newb? but i don't think i'm a total newb...i revmatch easily and all the time, and heel-toe at sharp turns.

I like the sound of that hang too....lol

can someone tell me why it's bad for racing/spirited driving? is it because of throttle response?

my friend says that a LW flywheel should FIX the problem.

I have the OEM all season floor mats and they tend to make it a lil more difficult. But before with the carpet mats Heel toe was butter.

Yea it is VERY easy to heel-toe in the FG2. It is fun. The only time the rev-hang is an issue for me is when I am just driving normal. When I am driving "spirited" its not an issue at all, and IMO does make heel-toe a lot easier.

the rev hang is computer controlled, so a light weight flywheel shouldnt effect it. i wouldn't recommend any flywheel other than stock though. i know many of people that switched from aftermarket flywheels back to oem.

ah thanks for that. so because our cars are drive by wire, it will make no difference huh?

Like 2008fijibluesi stated, it might be partly due to this revhang that heel toe from 4th to 2nd is so easy in this car.

quote you as saying what? what i said?

I shift from 4th to 2nd for heel-toe'ing on sharp turns. how else would you do it? 3rd to 2nd? I could do that too, but normally do 4th to second.

accelerate and come in fast towards a turn in 4th gear (as fast as possible),

brake HARD, while pressing in the clutch, and using heel to rev it to maybe 5-6K RPM, shift to 2nd,

let off clutch while initiating the turn/take the turn and accelerate with 2nd gear already in the proper RPM.

it's *IMPORTANT* to do all your braking and shifting BEFORE the actual turn. that's what they teach u at driving schools

am i doing something completely wrong here? I can take corners really fast like this ;D and I have done it on the track with driving instructor next to me as well.. so i don't think I'm doing anything wrong.

Maybe it'd be better to go from 3rd to 2nd? i depends I guess......

if it's a long straight away and then a hairpin, you might NEED to get in 4th gear...then 2nd gear at the turn.

I just didn't say I go from 4th to 2nd. If you're in a race prepared car, shifting from 4th to 2nd is perfectly fine, but I would never do it in my si, with the stock tranny in it. Even when I am doing heel-toe, I never skip gears.

ohhh.. i see. hmm.... i don't skip gears either, except for doing this maneuver. why would it be toiling/taxing to the tranny if you're matching the revs so that there's no jerk?

For one, I just never do it. Also, I have read that you aren't supposed to skip gears on Honda/Acura 6 spds. IDK. I think it has something to do with the fact that the synchros are engineered to handle only the next gear (i.e. 3rd gear is engineered to handle 2nd to 3rd shift and 4th to 3rd shifts). I really don't know, I am honestly just pulling it out of my a$$, but I guess it kinda makes sense.

I have an Exedy lightened flywheel on my 06 si. With DBW, it is really not noticable as the rev hang prevents the rpms dropping as they should with a LW flywheel. I recently got the Hondata reflash and it eliminated the rev hang so now the rpms drop as they should.

can i ask why it's desirable for revs to drop quickly?

for racing/spirited driving. i don't think anyone has answered me on that one yet. i'm new to manual --2 years into it about.
