Squeaky Steering Wheel *help*
My 91 4dr lx has a very bad squeaky steering wheel. Everytime you turn it while driving or parked, it squeaks and it's loud. I took apart the whole steering wheel assembly and lubricated all the junk that rotates with the steering wheel such as the horn contact plate and some small plastic pieces. I can't figure out where it's coming from and it's the last thing I need to do to the car.
I was going to say it would be the horn contact :/ You might try spraying some WD40 into the shaft. How that would be done... not sure.
I'm no help
I'm no help
I have the exact same problem. I took the wheel off, not only sprayed the contact plate with wd-40, but I also re-bent the plate itself to prevent any further squeeling. Eventually the squeel slowly came back as the contact plate bent back to its original squeeky position. So I dunno what to do, buy a new hub assy.? Any other thoughts?
I had this problem but I replaced my front end compliance bushings and it went away. don't know if that will help. it sounded like the wheel itself but it ended up being from the front suspension.
This, for me, is most definately the contact plate scraping/squeeling. Ill have to take the wheel off again and see what would have to be done to replace the horn plate...
