Default Piston choices for 84mm sleeved gsr block

I have a golden eagle gozilla sleeved gsr block that I'm building with a ls crank. I'm looking to make 450 to 500 hp on pump. Have everything almost
but the pistons so I wanna ask which company is recommended; CP, JE, Wiseco, Arias, etc. Please help me choose a reliable piston company to get and not something that have issues. This car will be daily driven.

SETUP:

-Bone stock B16 head with supertech valvetrain

-Golden Eagle Sleeved Gsr block 84mm

-micropolished and balanced ls crank

-Crower Rods

-Standard Acl bearings

-9.0-1 84mm forged pistons????????????

-Ctr cams or S2S1 cams. have both sets to play with

-Precision 1000cc injectors

-Jg edelbrock intake manifold

-Blox 76mm throttle body

-3in Aluminum charge pipings

-Topmount turbo manifold

-Turbo equivalent to gt30 with .82 hotside

-Gsr lsd tranny

-competition clutch stage 4 with upgraded pressure plate

-walbro 255hp

P.S. Should I get the race Acl bearings or stick with the standards? What are pro and cons? Thanks Honda-Tech

most any piston is going to handle what you want, its a matter of getting the proper tune on the car.

started with srp, worked good, went to je, beat the hell out of them and they worked, now have cp and am having the same success with them.

Wiseco
Arias,
I've tried them all, except for arias and srp, my boy uses arias with no issues.

my favorite is wiseco(coated)

i have used just about all of them. i use the cp now and love them. i have built deveral engines at the horsepower level you are talking about with wiseco pistons. they work great and usually cost about $100 less(at least they used to)

Custom Wiseco's from Brad @ RLZ or Tony1 @ T1RaceDevelopment.

It'll set you back about 650-700ish for a complete set w/ heavy wall pins, but once you see this piston you'll know why it's that much. Well worth the money IMO.

I'm shooting for 450whp with my new setup and i'm going with CP 9.8:1's because i've heard great things about the CP's. This is mainly due to the Jeff Evan's rebuild where he cites the fact that CP has very strict tolerances for their parts...i have no experience with any of them, but have yet to hear anything bad about the new CP's. The most important part is not going to be the piston, but rather, the tune...

really? you didnt hear/see how they used to chip at the edge near the valve relief? i had several customers with that issue when i worked at a shop (we did not build the motors) CP claims the issue is fixed and i hope it is, this was almost 2 years ago i think, it was all over HT too IIRC.

What piston off the shelf do you use for this? would it just be a crv piston made by wiseco like for a crvtec? thanks

you didn't see the part where he said NEW CP's?

OP: As long as the ACL bearings are within spec on your journals, I won't discourage you from using them. They're a great product if/when they fit. Sometimes they won't, however, and if they're right on the edge it's a much better call to just go with OEM honda bearings. Again, that's only if the ACL's aren't going to be in spec.

Specifically though, CRV pistons work? like wisecos for a CRV? I know the ? seems a little stupid, but Im pretty sure you can interchange all that stuff like a gsr rod with a crv piston(what would be intended for one or the other)

a crv piston is the same as an ls or gsr 84mm piston.

Thanks thats what I thought, just making sure it's not some crazy custom thing. cool

Wiseco has crvtec pistons(off the shelf) but there intending on a b16 head supposed to yeild 10.4-10.9 with the pistons and a b16 head, im using a gsr head(and block) how much higher will i be and how would i bring it back down, im looking to keep compression around stock as its a turbo car, but i dont want real low compresion as I dont like it for a street car. thanks

ive used both wiseco and cp.

i blew a sleeve with a wiseco piston in it, and the piston didnt melt or warp at all

Ok with this combo, GSR Block sleeved to 84mm, using wiseco CRV pistons that make about 10.4 to 10.9 k623m84 on this chart (using a b16 head and a crv block)

http://www.wiseco.com/PDFs/Cat...a.pdf

What would i be looking at with gsr block(sleeved to 84mm) GSR head(stock) Normal Honda 3 layer gasket, and these pistons? I know that the gsr head yields higher compression, but does the block make a difference the fact that its not a crv block? I'm at a loss here.
