just want to make sure about this turbo
i did some search and i found out the garrett gt2871r is a good turbo for my b18c1 gsr motor. i'm trying to push 400whp on 91 pump gas. would this turbo be good for it. heres the webpage that im going to buy it from. http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=GRT let me knoe if its a good turbo cause i want to pick it up this weekend. just want to make sure don't want to spend 1200 on a turbo and end up not wat i expected. any info would be great. thanks
If you havent, i'd look into some borg warner turbos too. Garrett gt series turbos are good, I personally just dont like the fact that they cant be rebuilt if something goes wrong. Send a PM to turbodano or theshodan on here. They can help you out. I'd say maybe take a look at the S256 for your power goals. Good luck.

a gt30r chra can be replace for about 400-450 dollars depending on what went bad. thats about the same as you would pay for a rebuild with some new parts on other turbos, and you get a brand new chra from garrett not a rebuild.
the 2871r can make 400whp but thats pushing it, i also would go with the 3071r.

The S256 in our .55 a/r stainless 5 bolt housing spool as fast or faster than the GT30 and can make 400whp @ 22 psi. We also have a .70 a/r vband housing for it as well.

Always a great option, but most people dont consider them for some reason. Rather than jumping the bandwagon, i snagged an S256 .70ar from Turbodano and can't wait to try it out. There are a lot of benefits to the S256 including the fact that it can be rebuilt cheaply and will make as much power as the GT30r with similar spool...
