Default Brakes starting to squeak! :[

My brakes are starting to squeak when I come to a stop!
Front discs, rear drums.

If I want the squeak to go away, what do I need? Do I just need new pads?
I am thinking of getting some AEM pads. Also, would new calipers do some good?

And is this a good DIY job?

New pads will stop the squeak.

No need for new calipers unless there is something wrong with them.

Yes brake pad replacement is a fairly easy DIY. I would strongly suggest that you buy yourself a Helms shop manual for your car or if you want the cheaper go with a Haynes manual (good for the easy DIY stuff)

Alright, thanks.
What is the exact purpose of the caliper? Is that what the pad is clipped to?

Yes they do hold the pads. The caliper itself also contains the hydraulically actuated pistons that are used to force the pads onto the rotor to stop the car. You will have to adjust these pistons in order to get your new pads to fit into the calipers and over the rotor. Trust me you will want to get a manual or find a step-by-step if you don't already have one.

Good luck!

AEM pads are probably overkill. If this is something that you want to do yourself i would reccomend going to a local auto parts store to buy your brakes. This way, if for some reason you get the wrong brakes, its just a simple trip back to the store, and if something goes bad on you they can be exchanged on the spot. As long as you're changing the pads, don't forget to inspect the rotors, if they look questionable then replace while you have the car apart.
