Default Crank pulley question.

I hadn't really put any thought into this till i was jumpin around the forum reading a few posts. and i read one about the ctr or was it ebay ctr pulleys not having a damper built in it. and that you should use one that has a damper to help with the vibrations and all. well what about thin aluminum pulleys? thing is i got a crank pulley that was custom made at a machine shop out of all aluminum. looks kinda like this
im just wondering if its gonna worse off then the ctr style pulley or should i just put my stock one on when i put the motor in?

you're not really gona get a clear cut answer on this. some people will swear up and down that you need a fluid dampener, other people have run a, say an Unorthadox Racing pulley on their DD for 50k+ with no issues. personally, i know a few cats running them with no issues, so i don't think it hurts anything, and its not a bad way to free up a few ponies, but like i said - opinions vary.

i say if you got that sucker custom made, hook her up and test it out.

well its not a daily driver by far. weekend drag car to tow to the track. so i guess itll be alright. this ones not unorthodox it was custom made at a flowserve machine shop. and i ended up with it for free so i couldnt complain.

Since it's a dedicated race car, I say go for it. If your oil pump takes a ****, then you won't be without transportation. I assume you're also going to rebuild the engine every so often, so it won't be as big of a deal.

If it was a daily driver, I'd say avoid that pulley like the plague.
