is the 98 spec type-r obd2a or obd2b????

For honda's Obd2b was 99-00, but acura might have changed with the body style change. But P72 : 00-01 OBD-2b Integra GSR so it might be obd2a.

If it's a JDM 98 spec, it's going to be a little different. They don't have something exactly equivalent to obd like we have over here.

the plugs are still obd2a style but read less sensors like our obd1 ecus

good way to look at it.

USDM ITRs:
97-98 = OBD2a
00-01 = OBD2b

JDM ITRs:
96-01 = OBD2a
