Default will any d15-d16 5spd fit in the crx?

I only want to know if the housing will work.

I plan on stripping it and filling it with gears I choose

or do I need a crx housing

so the mounts will line up from a car other than a crx?

all d series are the same .just watch out because a zc tranny uses teg axles

If I am pulling all the guts out and redoing it that wont apply here right?.
I am replacing, everything inside.
I only plan to use the housing

The housings will all fit. If you change to newer year trannies, Good luck with the mounts unless you get hasport's d-series mount conversion kit.

you should be fine with any tranny.its wierd u no how to switch out the gears but you dont know anything about the trannys.

Any L3 case will work. Just make sure you shim the diff out properly unless you use the one that came with the case you're using.

there are two different cases for the 88-91 L3 transmission - one with the larger bearings and one with the smaller bearings - you need to have the right case to match the bearings

I always forget about that. That actually screwed me up last summer when rebuilding a trans, go figure.

Can't you tell which is which by the casting #? I think I saw a thread on that in the FAQ.

I dont mean to say I know how to swap gears.
I have not built a tranny, but I need to rebuild mine, and rather than take my car off the road for the time it will take to rebuild, I plan on building another and simply swapping it out. This way I will have my car to get things and running into surprises as I learn will not be as big a deal as it could be.

Since I am going to be stripping the tranny I figure I may as well put the best gears in while I am replacing things.


As far as the bearing size issue. What does the difference affect?
