So i got free coilovers..

Default So i got free coilovers..

So i was saving up for shocks/springs or full coilovers for my 96 civic dx hatch. So i talked to my friend and funny thing is that he has brand new ones because he never got around to installing it into his 98 civic dx hatch because he sold it.

ANYWAYS, i think their from ebay, its what he told me, and right now i need a drop because my car is literally a 4x4 civic!

So what do you guys think? Go ahead and install them until i get enough for NAME BRAND SPRINGS?

How long would it last until my shocks get blown?

Nobody can tell you how long your stock shocks will last with those generic coilovers. They could blow tomorrow or they could hold out for several months, depending on a few factors. Using stock shocks with aftermarket coilovers is just a bad idea all around.

in a loooong run, you will miss your stock ride feel because it's so comfy.
if you want to lower it then do it right. save up some money and get a coilover

If you want to slam your ride and have it feel and handle like ***, by all means, install those coilovers.

Or, wait until you can do it the proper way. I think that's a BIG problem with people on here. They just can't wait, and they end up doing something half-assed then end up regretting it in the long run.

i mean yeah i want a slammed look, and hey, they were free, and their only for temp. use only. so i guess imma install them then save up for tein basic's or kyb paired with Gc? or prolly something else.

Then you should probably be looking into air bags or air cylinders, not coilovers.

something no one has mentioned....... sure its nice that you received those brand new for free, so its up to you if you want to install them. Taking the quality into consideration, i wouldnt go any lower than say 2 finger gap.

Another thing is that you lower your car now and then you have to spend the dough for an alignment, you save up cash for a new setup like you said and then you'll have to fork out the cash for another alignment. Cash might not be the problem but that extra work may.

Very true. you will actually lose ride quality, and have a higher risk of blowing your stock shocks. You keep saying they were free...hell why not post them in Honda Marketplace FOR SALE?! Make some money and put it toward that new suspension

well... i got a friend who is selling me suspension technique springs.

has anyone heard from them? i tried searching, couldnt find much info. THINK i will be better off with those and selling the coilovers?

Do they have a spring rate sticker on the side?

What I did was just buy generic coilovers and use eibach ERS. All that hardware is virtually the same, the spring is what counts.

yes and no, the spring is what counts but when your coilover sleeve breaks!! that happend to me with a set of tenzo's
