d15b7 to D15B
ok, so let just say, very hypothetically, that i was thinking about swapping my d15b7 to a d15b. It's a fairly cheap swap since it's pretty much a straight drop, and I already have an si tranny so I'm just lookin for a little speed. right now i got like 109 hp i think. or 107, i can't remember. anyway, it's ****. I've been thinkin about swappin to a B16a, but lets just say for a minute that i was lazy and wanted to do a d15B instead (that's not the case because i don't mind working on my car at all, this is just hypothetical) because it's easier. what kind of power could i get out of this? keep the budget fairly painless, all in all less than 1500 i think. mechanical skills not an issue. I've got help. I want somewhere around 170hp, give or take a little, how achievable would this be, what would be an easy way to do this?
Including the engine in the budget i dont think you will get 170hp with 1500 from a d15b. Stock it has 130hp i believe, i think the most you might get from that with 1500 is 140hp (at the motor), with a y8 intake mani and a cam. To the ground i would say around 121hp. So if your goal is 170hp and n/a, save for the b16a and start from there.
no, 1500 not including the engine. and i know the b16a is a better idea, like i said, just want to know whats possible with this, and what i'm looking to spend. prefer not to turbo if i don't have to, i'm not going to turbo a b16a, but i'd consider it on the D15B.
Still yet with 1500 on a d15b, the only way to get 170hp at the wheels will be to boost (or cheap out on spray, but thats not my style). With 1500 i still dont know if you could make a realiable turbo kit. But id say 250 for a cam, 500-800 for spring+retainers, then i guess whats left for a exhaust and a $100 cam gear on a n/a setup that would give around 140hp (at the motor).
