Default 99 EX in EF

Been searching and found no clear answers, .... Anyways my Cousin's Fiance has a 99 EX Civic that's been totaled (Broken Axles) and i gave him a call he said he would sell me everything i needed to swap it into my EF. He loves Hondas aswell, So i was wondering would it bolt on directly? (89 STD Hatch) what modifications would i need to do prior to installing it and post-installation to make it run right.

it would bolt directly in... its still a d series... and use your intake manifold and header.. now, ex, has the y8, which is vtec, to get that to work, look on the faq.... theres a couple things about it there

also, i wouldn't use your intake manifold, because im pretty sure you have a dpfi intak mani vs the mpfi intake mani... i think the biggest concern/hardest part you will run into would be wiring an obd0 car with an obd2 motor... but it can be done.....

thats why i said to use his mani... unless he wants to do DPFI to MPFI... he will if he wants vtec to work... just do dpfi to mpfi. i could say convert to obd1 to be easy. use rywire harness and a p28

I know the consequences to this and the stupidity, but would it be possible to run it with a DPFI...

hah. yeah, it can be done. i dunno how well it will run on a stock y8, but i built a frankenstein motor (d15b2 w/ zc pistons, y8 head) and left it dpfi and i can tell you it runs about as well as a 350 pound smoker in his mid-50s, but it will still drive. i would highly recommend doing the mpfi conversion. maybe even obd1 so you can run a p28 and have the luxury of automated vtec (mine is through a button i bought at radio shack. heh)

oh, and if you have an std, you need to see a doctor
heh. joke.

nah, but seriously, you're gonna need to get new hubs, and do something with the tranny mount (forgot what).

oh yeah, And the d16y8 tranny is hydraulic, so you're either gonna have to retrofit it, or get an 88-91 si tranny. your 4-speed tranny will bolt up to it, but i mean... well, it's a 4 speed. heh. boost the hell out of it though, and those long azz gears would be fun as ballz.

great site full of hateful people. i suggest doing a search before you post anything. they will eat you alive, worse than on here. but they should have everything you need to know about this swap.

oh yeah and no, you can't use the wiring harness from the ex (unfortunately)

look on ebay, and there's a guy that makes the conversion harnesses on a made-to order basis, and he gives you like 50 bucks off what you paid if you send him yoru old harness. he'll makeyou one for a little over a hundred i think
