b18a ?
stock b series motors are good for 300 dd, but its all in the tune and the condition of the motor. Most likely if its a stock b18a there's alot of miles on it. How many miles are on the motor?
he said 100 plus but i have to rebuild the motor anyways i was just more wanting to know what the block its self can handle since the motor threw a bearing and **** and im getting it for cheap and if i get it then i want to build it for 300 dd and then mayb 400ish on gas or something idk though its all up in the air for now since its a complete bottem end i would b getting though so thats always good
ba18a's come out of integras from 91-93 and are very similar to the b18b.
It has the same rod/stroke and displacement, it's just older and are hard to find with decent mileage. If you're rebuilding it anyway, don't worry about it. But if it came with a transmission it's likely a cable transmission and incompatible with a 92-00 civic without an expensive conversion kit.
For the $300-500 you're going to spend rebuilding a 15 year old motor you could buy a good used condition b18b with little difficulty.
Besides, we all say it's going to be $300-400 to start, but this is likely going to cost you more than that. No one ever guesses their budget right the first time.

yea true but yet im getting a full swap basically just needs the mounts for 450 and i the cheapest i can get a motor and just the trans from a 96 ls was 1500-1800 i belive i think it was closer to 1800 with a 96 with a gsr trans. but yet spending the money on the older block i could build it up to be strong and faster basically though.

We have a car at the shop owned by our parts guy that is a straight LS, stock motor aside form ARP head studs and a little head work (it's an A) that is running around on pump gas with a T04R making 290 at the tire and he lives 55 miles from the shop.
Engine is as reliable as the day is came out in a DA and we flog the car on a regular basis at the track on slicks. No leaks, no problems. It's definitely all in the tune.
