94 accord h22a4 idle problem
hello all,
im coming over here from d-series.org to maybe see if someone can help me. I just got a 94 honda accord with an h22a4 swap. The car had a P0A ecu in there and the idle jumped between 1000 and 1400 rpm. I bought a p28 ecu with a h22a4 basemap chip and when i put it in the car now idles at around 600rpm and sometimes it will die.
I've done the following to try and fix the problem;
- new PCV valve
- cleaned out the IACV
- attempted to screw down the white donut in the FITV
- tried adjusting the idle screw but nothing happens
I have noticed that when i start the car and its cold, it will idle at 2400 rpm and then jump around below that. Also after screwing in the FITV the bottom screw in the throttle body doesn't suck as much as it did before however the TPS hole is blowing a ton of air out. Then when i shut off the car its like teh car is letting out a big sigh of air. Hopefully someone might be able to help, im trying to get the idle up to around 1000rpm just like the P0A, but that ecu sucks *****.

VACUME LINES must be hooked uo inncorrectly..in my old H2s setuos I had the same issue ontm ut turned out ti ce the FITV as you mentuon..but the ohter was vacumme kines..just a strnog hunch
alright well ill check that out...also when i spray throttle body cleaner on the iacv where is mounts the idle will go up..
It goes up???..... usually TB cleaner makes the idle go down. That doesn't really matter because I think you found your vacuum leak. Check that the rubber gasket for the IACV isn't flattened, cracked or broken. If it is too flat it will not seal properly between the IACV groove and the intake manifold face. This would cause a vacuum leak and could be the reason for your high idle. Get a new one from the dealership for a few bucks.
