Default I need your help... SOHC all motor question...

Hi,

I have a 95 DX with 63K on it. I want to be different and stay SOHC, and I have always liked all motor cars, so....

What types of things can I do, or what do I get? I want to raise the compression and such... I may get a VTEC head soon, but since I'm going all motor, and I want a high redline, what do I get?

Do I want to strengthen it with stronger components, or lighter components? A port and polish job? bigger crank?

Any kind of help you can give me like facts, or things you have seen or done is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jay

All those things are good for an all motor setup. Yes a VTEC head will work. If you want to keep a SOHC motor I'd reccomend a 96-up EX motor(D16Y7) with the tranny.

You can do all the normal stuff that works on all engines for n/a power.
I/h/e
higher compresion
cam
Head porting
Stroke it - will the D16 crank work in the D15?
ECU

I have an extra D15 that I was going to play around with and those are some of the things I was going to do.

higher compression is a must.... a replacement for displacement is COMPRESSION!!!

ohhh and being SOHC isnt different... there are millions of hondas that are left SOHC

Yeah, I know it's not WAY different.. but a fast SOHC is for sure different when you see it on the streets... most of the people around here have motor swaps.

OK... I heard the D16Z6 head would be better for my D15B7 block.. anyone?

ok... should I go with a Gude cam?

So, willyboyD16... this is a good setup? I want a very high redline, so should I go aftermarket pistons like Arias, or something?

any other help appreciated!!!

d16a6 or d16a1 pistons

\

d16a6 pistons??? get p29 pistons(mini b16) over bore and you will be happy... even pg6b pistons will give you a compression ratio of over 10.0:1 with a stock 3 layer gasket and stock spec head

actually, the d16y7 is in the dx, cx and lx. the ex has a d16y8

no when i said mini b16 i meant it as.... they are like the b16 piston for single cams as b16s pistons have a nice dome... . p29 pistons have a nice dome...
b16= 81mm bore
p29= 75mm

I'm very intrigued by your proposal of sticking with the SOHC motor. How fast can a sohc motor go on the 1420?

keep in mind, slapping a z6 vtec head on a d16a6 raises compression all by itself due to the smaller combustion chambers.

edit: 1320

and i dont believe ZC pistons in a sohc will give you 13.1:1 compression

C-speed.com has a compression calculator you just need to find the dome specs of the piston.. the gasket thickness.. the combustion chamber volume... i believe honda tech user SONNY ***** has an extensive list/chart of SOHC pistons with head specs....

Oops. I'm not too much into D series motors so I get mixed up sometimes . Yes I'm B-series Assassin, but my computer being retarted lately so I dont want to get into detail but I had to make a new SN. How long am I a newbie though?

so, is this true for slapping a Z6 head on a D15B7 block?

want help,
these guys have more answers than you do questions, I was amazed at the knowledge on these pages. see anything Mista Bone posts. and some one posted a 13.5 on streets with a sohc mildly modded. pub34.ezboard.combhondaseries

or IM Mista Bone He seems to be the most knowledgable.

Question:

Will D16 rods fit the D15 problem free? I was about to order some Eagle forged rods, and was wondering if this is correct?

peaces.
