Hi guys. i have a 99 ls nonvtec. My car has been surging at idle at idle but never dying. it also stumbles while i am cruising at a constant speed. when i accelerate it seems like the car is back to normal and performs just fine. I have asked a few people i kno and the answers i have gotten are this, possible crack in a vacumm line. bad ignition system because it seems like the car is not sparking when i rev the motor, and it smells like unburned gas(possibly another problem?), new tune, or an egr valve. the answer that i thought made the most sense was an egr valve but i have been lookin on forums and according to half the people my car does not even have one, and according to the other half i do and its somewhere around the intake manifold and only takes two bolts to get to. i would go look but im not 100 percent what im looking for or where i am even supposed to be looking. im lost, someone? anyone? help!!! lol

 

check your timming thats what it sounds like to me.

 

I thought an EGR valve was only on Automatic B18A's.
I know it is only on Automatics....and 99% sure only on B18a's

 

Yeah the B18B does not have an EGR valve. It could be a lazy O2 sensor, bad timing, need of a tune up, vacuum leak etc.

i had the somewhat of the same problem, i changed out my IAT sensor worked out for me but hope you get it fix
