car is 00 lude passenger brake lamp comes on when my foot is on the pedal but will not come on when foot is off the pedal. I also got a new bulb and it didn't work any ideas.

 

mabey I read that wrong, but your problem is that the brake light comes on when your foot is on the brake pedal, but wont come on when its off the pedal?

 

nah, you read it right. with my foot on the brake pedal the brake lampp comes on. i take my foot off the light does not stay on like it should

 

Yeah my brake light does that too. We cant seem to figure out why. Have you tried calling Honda?

 

so, the brake lamp(bright filament) works, but the tail lamp(dim element) does not...


Use a volt meter to check for power at the bulb socket, if there isn't power going to the dim filament when the headlights are on, there is a break in the wiring somewhere

 

nah, well i just bought the car back in nov. it was like that and outta the blue it was . then i drove it for 2 weeks it was fine then one day i look it does it again. maybe i got the wrong blub?

 

i'll try looking for continuity, but i'm still learning the tricks of that trade. thanks for the input

 

i had an issue like that in my 4th gen. at first i thought it was only the bulb. so i replaced it again thinking i had gotten the wrong one. but issue still remained. i ended up buying a new tail light and problem solved. it might not be the same with you but try swapping with a good one and see if that fixes your problem.
