Default Exhaust Delimmas...

im jus about about ready to put an exhaust on my 93 lude, but the only aftermarket catbacks i can find got those loud *** 4" tips on them.. i searched the threads on here, but nothing about silencers... So i wanted to know, Does Silencers help wit the loud bass of the exhaust and does it decrease the performance??

Silencers are crap. If you want a good exhaust muffler get a magnaflow. Dont forget a resonator; it tones it down.

What type of exhaust are you doing. Is it an all out custom exhaust.

Skunk2 is about the loudest catback I have ever heard. I've heard it on a H22 Prelude and a B16 CRX. VERY LOUD!

I think you should look into the Apexi WS2. A lot of people on here will vouch for the sound it.

Just because the pipe opening in the back is 4'' doesnt mean its going to be louder than a 3'' pipe.

If you want a custom pipe kit than go for pipes inbetween 2.5''-3.0''. Assuming you have an H-series motor. Start wth a high-flow cat and then a 22'' resonator and get a muffler with a 2.5-3.0 intet.

I must of typed this out a hundred times by now. I think Im going to do a write-up, on exhausts.

I'll agree that it's loud, but I haven't noticed it being retardedly, obnoxiously loud at all. Could be that I'm used to it. Nice deep tone on an otherwise stock H22A4. I haven't tried the silencer yet, though, and don't really want to. To the OP - if you're concerned with the look of the exhaust tip itself, there is an exhaust picture thread. Hopefully I'll remember to take a pic of my Skunk2 MP.
