I drove a Prelude for the first time.
So my friend was buying a prelude but wanted me to test drive it cause he couldent drive stick. It was nice, kinda cramped inside tho. Its a 2000 se with stick. Its was tourquey but the vtec didnt push me back in my seat like other dohc vtec's i drove before tho. What are some of the problems he should be watching out for and is it hard to get use to that long hood in front? Also i noticed the shifter was kind of notchy is that normal for a prelude or is it the shifter bushings??
cramped- pretty much get used to it your buying a coupe lol
i dont know about the vtec cuz i cant be there to feel it
long hood- its pretty easy to get used to because of the bends where the lights are
shifter- mines smooth so maybe its the bushings, but i also have a short shifter in

if your friend can't drive stick why is he buying a stick shift? Anyway i just got my lude and yea it is cramped my head kept hitting the visor and getting out of the car i always almost bump my head UGH but fun car to drive. as for the vtec this is my first vtec so i have none to compare to, but i got mine with 40k and it hauls. if he is gonna buy it look over the car carefully like i did before buyin mine test drive it sit in it look it over under and over and under, check oil and other basic ****, how many miles on it?

Bahaha, I guess you haven't ever driven a Corvette
My prelude hood seems short and stubby compared to my friends Corvette hood...that thing seems like it goes out about 10 feet from the driver seat.

Actually the 5th gen has more interior space and a higher roof line.

Headroom isn't the problem.. it's legroom.. My knees kit the wheel in a 5th gen, i can stretch completely out in a 4th.

Most of what you described sounds pretty on-par for a 'lude. They drive great but because of their weight you don't feel the push so much getting into VTEC (I had a del Sol with a B16 before my current '97 Prelude and it rocked hard into VTEC). My shifter also feels a bit more "notchy" than my del Sol and CRX did (def need a short shifter on a Prelude). If you're used to small Honda's the hood seems big at first, but you get used to it; it's not any bigger than other cars it's size.
