Honestly, save your $15K.

Dropping that much money into a daily driver is pointless IMO.

Personally, I would take that money and put it in a savings/CD and just forget about it and use it later on for more important things.

If anything just spend a little money and freshen up your car if it needs it, but don't put that kind of money towards a car that has an even greater chance of getting stolen since its daily driven.

BTW, how old are you? The cash you are receiving will be nice to have to collect interest on and then put towards purchasing a house (with a garage), paying off any short term or long term debt (Credit cards/student loans), etc.

if you got 15k, i would buy a type-r. then fix your daily to run good and drive the r on the weekends.

I was going to recommend this, or buy another car as a "project car" but those builds get pretty expensive and all those small things add up real quick.

But then you also have to account for insurance which is an ongoing expense and a garage will certainly be needed.

Plus even though the R is a great car it is not an incredibly fast straight line car which to me seems like what the OP wants. If the OP is willing to spend 15K towards his motor then I'm guessing he wants something that can haul.

EDIT - I do realize that you have another $25K that I have no idea what your doing with, which you might be saving. But still $15k towards your car is a lot of money and remember that a built motor requires more maintenance, as well as your car because more stuff tends to break and there is more wear and tear on other items.

With our current ecoomic standing/situation I would save as much as I can.

couldn't have said it any better. if you want to treat yourself, dump a few thousand into it. no need to spend 15k on a car that's worth no more than 3 or 4k

Like others have said, save your money. It'll be the best thing you can do. But if you are dead set on spending 15K, I'd say look into doing a K swap or H22 swap and you'll still have some left over for a security system and any extras, like wheels and suspension.

That $40K would be a fat downpayment for a house buddy. Don't sink half of it in a 14 yr-old car.

Buying a home is always a great idea if you can keep up on the payments or can get savy on craigslist and keep the place loaded with roomies to basically pay for the house while you own it. I'm with the rest of the guys in saving most of it. I'm sure you want a better car though. Why not sell your 94 and find a Type R or a totally done GSR that's already what you want. $10-12k will buy quite a few nice cars out there and you can save most of your money.

Buy a home or sell the GSR and put the 15K + GSR money into a 2003ish Fully loaded G35. Get a little luxury in your life.

If you really want to spend it on the car, why not sell the gsr and with that 15k and whatever you get from the gsr, get an nsx perhaps?

40k would be a decent down payment on a house.

I would personally never drop 15k into a car. You will not get your money back out of it. If you really want to spend 15k on a car, but something newer, more realiable, and much faster stock.

I say sell the GSR and get an S2K!

But if you're gung ho about puttin all that money into it, do a full ITR conversion. Front clip, B18C5, HIDs, full suspension, nice wheels and tires and either turbo or build it NA.

Do whatever you makes you happy but I can think of SOOO many things I would rather spend that money on other than a 14 year old car thats worth a quarter of what you wanna put into it.

Good luck man!

Good lord, you wanted to spend $15,000 on a 14 year old car? You've got to be kidding, are you like 16 years old? If I had a relative give me that money and I spent it on my car, they'd be spinning wildly in their grave.

You should donate that money to charity before you do something stupid with it.

First off I would think about what you want to do, don't have the mind set of here is 15k lets go crazy.

Do you want a fast car, show car ? Set some goals and then reach them first.

Well if you really do decide to put 15k into your car which i do not suggest.
You should first invest in some type of security. Kill switches. A good alarm at least.
