Last week on my way home from work, I couldn't get first or second gear. So I replaced the shifter, adjusted the linkage and didnt solve the problem.On a rare occasion when I get frustrated and move the shifter around I can get second gear, but still no first gear. Third, fourth, fifth and reverse work perfect, but I know I am eating up my clutch having to start in third.
It has 270,000 on it, so I am guessing it is shot internally, but maybe someone has some ideas for me.

This is a common problem it's most likely the synchros inside the tranny. I had this problem on my old Lude. I would go to 2nd or 3rd at a stop then hit first, that would usually work.
