and i bam! The idea hit me. Well, i missed the Expo and the thread about the HT Midwest Meet had me thinking. Is there an ITR meet coming up? i was thinkin about a BBQ or something. Besides, i see all these posts about NorCal Meets and SoCal Meets. Whatsup with the midwest boys? Hello? Well, if anyone's interested in something like this i am guessing..... mm......Mid August, i think thats more than enough planning for us to set something up like that. I am still not too familiar with all the ITR's in the chicagoland area cept for the 5 ITR's that live around me? Well, lets take a head count. How many people can we get out here. I was thinking having the meet somewhere downtown or maybe someplace a little more subtle in the burbs or something. Well, idea's are welcome and suggestions are always taken into consideration. Lets get something started yeah boys?

No meetings planned that I know of. I missed a couple last year. Maybe we could meet in the burbs like last time? I'd be interested in going as long as it's on a weekend.

 

Chi-town Representing...I'm down for sure bro, a BBQ would be straight. Let's get some planning done and do this for sure. I think we could have a good turnout and show Cali that Chicago Ownz them....

probably should be more of a chicago h-t meet than anything else, since there arent that many R owners around here. now if we gather R's + hybrids then i think a meet would be feasible

Yes there are. Heck, we got 15 Rs at our meet last year without even trying too hard.

If you hybrid owners want to do a hybrid meet some time, feel free to go ahead and set one up.

but how many of them are on honda-tech.. i see alot of R's and alot of SI's, but besides rolling down the street, i hardly see them anywhere else(like track or hangouts)...
it seems alot of people have those two cars just for saying they own them for bragging rights or something...

Then we can set a good place to meet up at thats not too far from everyone. If its a HT Meet, what kinda activities you guys wanna do? hahahaha, thats funny bro, hahaha. Okay guys! I wanna do this early august. I think a months good enough for some planning. What do you guys think? Truthfully, i wanna be at this meet because i am leaving for Hong Kong August 12th. I am guessing anytime before that would be good. That plus my car's not outta the shop yet. the R's undergoing a JDM Makeover and its TAKING FOREVER!
Anyways, How many people can we expect to attend an event like this? The Expo looked like a monster event but its not a road course event, its a bbq/ HT Meet.
I am not pretty accurate with numbers so can anyone come up with some decent numbers on attendance? How many were there for the last event??

 

Uh...okay I'm having trouble understanding this. Please help me out on this one. I wanted to setup a Midwest H-T meet in Chicago around Sept 14-15 (because I know that a lot of HT'ers would be interested in going to the Battle of the Imports race), but it seems that most of the ITR owners aren't interested UNLESS it's an ITR ONLY meet?

I own an ITR, but I wouldn't be bringing mine for the sole reason I want to actually race my hybrid AT this drag race. I just figured some of you H-T'ers (ITR and non-ITR owners) would want to meet up. If you're worried about getting your car stolen, I don't know what to tell you. It's no different than parking your car somewhere and having it be at risk from any thief. Don't think I won't worry about parking my hybrid out there in Chicago when I'm there.

Hmm...sounds a bit elitist to me.

 

Hey, stop arguing. You're starting to sound like those bad-attitude guys from the South at the Expo. Remember, we're easy-going Midwesterners, right?

Whoever is working on setting it up gets to decide who it's open to and where it is. If ndless does the work on a barbecue, then he can decide if it's only ITR or all models. If it's something that a lot of people want to come to, they'll come. If it's not, they won't.

To answer ndless's question, we had 15 ITRs last time around - but that was billed as an ITR event, and a lot of folks came because of that. If you bill it as a h-t.com event for all Honda makes, you'll get a different crowd. I don't know if more people would come for an h-t.com event, or an ITR event, or a hybrid event. You guys who are working on it, decide how to bill it, and just do it. You'll see how many people show up. Worst case, you'll have leftover burgers and dogs that you can always freeze, big deal.

The title of this topic called it an ITR meet, which sounds like it's for ITRs. If it's going to be an h-t meet, then don't call it an ITR meet.

Well...if it's an ITR ONLY meet that's fine. I was trying to setup a H-T meet and he quoted me saying he thought it would be a good idea. If it's a separate meet, that's fine. I just wanted to say that Sept 14-15 I'm trying to setup a H-T meet where anyone can show up.

 

Changed my name to NVious R ( had too many damn user names for this and that, stuck with this one now ). Guys, the name's Ken btw. Anyways, i was thinking ITR meet. I hate to be the one to limit this and i know its on the ITR Forum so i can't ask for a vote. I am down for Honda-Tech or ITR meets. Whichever works out. The thing i am concerned with is the size of the crowd. I want to setup a bbq or something like that around the area, let us get to know each other BS about the cars all day. I originally posted ITR meet acknowleging the rest of the honda-tech world cause this idea was all from the post about battle of the imports. Well, i think its still possible to fill our calendars with 2 events. One for each. I was thinking we can set up a ITR meet and do the HT meet as well. We can have 2 events going on, one in august and one in september for the battle of the imports. You guys remember the post i made about " drag racing vs road racing" ?? Well, the ITR meets build around that, most of the ITRs on this Forum focuses around road racing, you don't see too many drag Type R's right? Well, since you Yellow mentioned the battle of the imports, that can be a seperate drag event. I was thinkin ITR meet cause i am into road racing, not so much drag and if we do the battle of the imports HT meet, thats more or less drag than road. Its up to you guys. We can single one event or have 2, one each month. Whichever fits the rest of the you guys out there. I came up with the idea, i need you guys to help me make this happen. I was thinkin about making a Poll, whatcha think??

 

That's cool if you want to have your own separate ITR meet. I just thought some of you ITR guys would want to meet up for a H-T meet. Just because I'm going to an import drag, doesn't mean that's where we have to meet. I was thinking of meeting someplace else on Sat, Sept 14th after the first day of the Battle. I'm much more into road racing myself, but I would like to go for a personal best time for my hybrid and I hear you guys have a good dragstrip. I've AutoX'd for 2 yrds in my ITR and I've been on the roadcourse about 7-10 times now. I'm much more into that honestly, but I've never been to an import drag and I'd like to go.

 

Well, i still dont' want to single anyone out. Its not my place to do that. Its basically up to the rest of the people. I think it would be cool both ways but you guys wanna do 2 events or just one big one? I am totally down with 2 of them. It doesn't matter, you have an ITR, you're gonna be at both of them, hahaha.

What a herb you can be sometimes, i was at that event... and your trying to tell me that every R there was from IL??? to you bro.

Im speaking from my experiance, i ask alot of people with R's or Si's when i run into them what they usually do with them... And most only take them to the track and get pisssed when they run 15's

I guess you must own yours for bragging rights or something, huh?

No, but ten of them were. And twelve more came from nearby states. So there are plenty of folks around here who drive them on the track (the real track, not that drag strip stuff for wusses who aren't good at stopping or turning). You should try it some time.

Well, its all good guys. Well, NSX says the poll isn't needed, screw it. So do we do 2 events or one? I am all down for 1 or 2 events. As for the events, i didn't go either, felt kinda left out. The day after everyone had pics of the expo and i was like, " i could have been with another million PY's and i missed out". Oh well. If thats the case, what does it come down to guys? As for the GSR, i got spanked by a pretty nasty GSR on the street before. We talked, he was boosting 12 lbs on a built bottom end. On the Highway though.. where 90-94 splits going outta the city, Whoo hoo.... Walked him around that turn, but when it straightened out.. Nothing but tailights man..

What color was the boosted GSR? I instructed a purple one (Supersonic Blue Pearl) at Road America in May...
