Heater Core ... HELP!
Okie dokie ... where do I even begin ... 1st time i replaced the heater core because it was leaking inside my car (passenger side) ... had to replace it a 2nd time because the heater core that I bought the first time was a defect and it still leaked and i got some kind of smoke coming from the vents inside the car ... okay here is my problem now ... my windows are easily fogged up and when the vents are open it smells like coolant BUT there is NO leak ... is it still the heater core or is there something else I should be looking for?

Change your cabin filter if you have one if not spray some lysol (however you spell it) in the vents from out the the car...let it sit a little bit and see if the small goes away...
Make sure you don't have another leak, otherwise it may just be the left over coolant from the defective heater cores still evaporating. I had the same scenerio about a week after I replaced my heater core, so one day I just took my portable heater set it inside the car on a metal pan and turned it on low and let it evaporate all the coolant. Took about 4 hours.

i checked to see if the leak was there but no leak ... floormats and carpet are dry ... looked up and still no leak ... popped hood to have a look see ... and see nothing ... the thing is it's been a couple of months i believe shouldn't it evaporate by now?

Yeah the water may have evaporated but the actual chemicals in the coolant "ethylene glycol and other stuff" is probably still in the carpet, so try some febreez or carpet upholstry cleaner to get that out, if not, some car auto detailers can steam clean and shampo it for pretty cheap.

no ... its not in the carpet ... you can only smell the coolant when the vents are open ... after the heater core was replaced the second time i took out the seats and shampooed them already ... a week later i took my seats out again and steamed them ... floor mats were put in afterwards ... im thinking that there's a leak or moisture somewhere internally because the windows fog up so easily ... i dunnoe what it is ...

Coolant will not evaporate. If it did, you would have to fill it up every time you drove your car.
The only way to get the coolant out of your carpet is to take it out, shampoo and vacuum it. It will need to be done many times.
Keep an eye on your coolant level to be sure that you do not have a leak still. You may have bent the leads going to the heater core when you were installing it. Also make sure your hoses are 100% on the core. If the leak is internal, you should be able to see the coolant on the bottom of the heater core box.

there's no leaks on carpet or floormats ... no smell ONLY when heater is on or vents are open ... so ... i basically would have to remove everything to get to the heater core to check the hoses for leaks of some sort?

I would check from under the hood first. You could have a pin hole leak spraying right into the cabin.
Anothing thing to do is to take off the cover for the heater core. It's very simple to do with everything in place. With the cover off, rev the engine and have someone lay under the dash and look for leaks.
I would not take the heater core back out just b/c of a smell, but that's just me. You could also have a leak under your hood somewhere and the blower is just sucking up the fumes into the cabin.

but to the op, i recently had my heater core blow and i changed it and it took me almost a month to get the smell of coolent out... inside your heater core houseing there is foam on the flaps, they could have soaked up the chemicals and be releasing the small when you turn your heat on and it blows warm air over them, also you could just have the smell up in your vents from the chemicals also... so like some said already, spray some lysol or somethin like that into your vents and let it dry... im betting the chemicals just dried into the foam inside your hc houseing and is why your air smells when you turn the heat or somethin on...

AWD Terror and ls19integra95 thanks ... will try to do ... but i dunnoe i really think there's still a leak somewhere or something because the windows fog up so easily and it wont defrost with the a/c ... windows will fog due to moisture right?
mine still fog up real easily too and will only unfog when i put the defroster on with the heat cranked... but watch your coolent level and see if your radiators slowly loosing coolent and thats one way of telling if your still leaking... but as AWD said, it could be in engine bay and your vents are just sucking the smell up... thats actually why i kept smelling coolent for a month, found out my radiator cap was bad and leaking coolent out of it and it was just coming through my vents.
