Default So I'm looking at buying my first ever vehicle, an 04 SIR here in Winnipeg....

So I'm looking at a 2004 Honda Civic SIR for $13,806 (Canadian) with 64,525 Kms

Options : Alarm, AM/FM Stereo, Air Conditioning, Anti-Lock Brakes, Bench Seat, CD Player, Driver Air Bag, Dual Air Bag, Intermittent Wipers, Keyless Entry, Power Brakes, Power Mirrors, Power Steering, Power Windows, Rear Defroster, Tilt Steering, Tinted Glass, Leather Interior, Power Locks, Spoiler, Sunroof, Cruise Control, Power Trunk

Description : - Engine: 2.0 Liter Additional Options: Brakes: 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, Daytime Running Lights, Head Restraint, Vanity Mirrors, Cup Holders: Front, Cup Holders: Rear, Map Light, Upholstery: Cloth, Digital Clock, Rear Window Wiper, 3 Point Rear Seat Belts, Climate: Cabin Air Filtration, Floor Mats: Carpet, Tonneau: Soft, Floor Console, Driver Information Centre, Tachometer, Tires: Compact Spare, Seat(s): Fold Up

It's being sold at a local Honda dealership as a certified pre-owned. Consumer Reports gave the used 04s a Well Above Average rating. If I were to offer 5,500, would a dealership work with me on something? I'm also still going to look around for other interest rates too.

I'm just wondering everyone's experience with this model?

They want $13k and you want to offer $5500? I don't see how they are going to go for that. Are you trading something in as well?

With my personal experience it is always good to have as large of a down payment as possible. This will reduce the amount you have to finance and save you on interest. Also you may want to think about getting a cosigner that way you do not have worry with the ridiculously high interest rate that they are probably going to try and stick you with.

Also watch out how long you are financing for because if you pay for it for more than five years, in my opinion, you have gone out of your price range. make them meet you at a respectable Balance between payment and interest rate. They will work with you if they really want the sale! Good luck on the purchase and post pics soon!

Yeah. I'de say that's a good idea. Paying the remaining $8k over 3,4, or 5 years won't hurt that bad.
