I was wondering what's the best way to store ITR seats (specifically USDM). I had the seats stored in the garage for the last 2 months. With all the rain we get especially ~14" in the last 36 hours, white mold builds up on the Alcantara since the air is so moist.
I cleaned them yesterday, dried them with a blow dryer, and wrapped them in large contractor bags. I also moved them from the garage to under my bed. However, I have a feeling mold will still grow on the seats. It's definitely less damp in my room, which is a plus.

assuming your house has no air conditioning since you live in Hawaii (my moms house did not)
it may be pretty tough to store them w/ the humidity changing there so often.....
I would say, make sure they are completely dry and try to store them in a climate controlled area.....(something w/ ac to remove the moisture from the air)
I would probably not bag them at this point if mold has already reared its ugly head.... the seats are probably not really fully dry even though they appear to be....and bagging them will produce more mold b/c of the moisture.....
Good Luck

I do have one of those small A/C units, but I won't be running it 24/7 just for the seats.
I guess any simple way of storing them is out of the question. I do plan to re-clean them as soon as we get much needed sun.

i was thinking you need to let them dry for a while before storing them again.. a blow dryer most likey didnt get deep enough.. and with them being in bags i would think the humidity would draw moisture

Yeah, I think the bags were a bad idea now that I think of it. I only wiped down the seats with a damp cloth, so the Alcantara wasn't soaking wet.

good info for once in this forum...
I'm thinking a bag made out of a breathable material like those exspenvive car covers, the ones that let moisture exscape and locks it out. Then basically you need to keep them indoors out of direct light to prevent extreme temp changes.

LOL. Do they make those bags in an extra large size? It is a good idea, but I don't think it's cost effective.
