Default I'm Now a Wagovan Man, Wild as The Taliban...56K Should Still Look!

I recently purchased a 1990 Wagovan from H-T member @ries. I was trusting enough to send a chashier's check for $4,550.00 to a guy I've never met, to buy a car I've never seen in person nor driven, and I could not be happier with the outcome.

$775.00 dollars and 4 days later the Wagovan arrived from it's old home in San Diego, CA 2150 miles away to southside ATL, GA.

Car is immaculate - better than pics @ries took depicted! Runs amazingly well, with no quirks to speak of. Taking some time to get used to hard urethane mounts, but that goes with a B-powered EF I suppose.

Normally I'd never buy someone else's built car, but my wife I preggo, and I wanted a solid DD to replace my 1991 DX hatchy - loading child/rear facing child seat into 2 dr hatchback = fail.

I told my wife I wanted a grey Wagovan since they had the nice grey interior, or if I could find a red RT4WD with grey insides that'd work too. @ries's wagovan is literally 100% to a T exactly how I'd imagined my ideal Wagovan would be.

My wagon search found me nothing but rusted rear 1/4 paneled stockish crap wagons. For some reason the southeast has virtually no wagons around, and the ones I did find were usually northern cars that were rust buckets.

I did find one super clean white/blue interior 90K orig. miled Wagon on Ebay, but it was an auto, had dime-sized rust spots on rear 1/4 panels, and sold for $2,600.00!!! - bone freaking stock!!! Why would I pay that much for one with an auto, blue insides, some rust, and in need of sooo much work to make it bearable for me to drive? Instead I got the grey one seen below.

Anyways here's pics - I took some day shots - nothing "photo shoot" worthy.

The body is super straight:

...for pulling up hills - 68K OBD1 B18B1 with all new belts, waterpump, seals, etc.

...for slowing when going down hill - 15/16ths m/c to match DA front 10.4'' brakes:

Custom a/c bracket - HASport or AZ machine:

...speaking of AZ Race Machine:

Inside:

Underside:

If you're a wagonist then you know how hard some of the "little" things are to find for these damn things:

Flaps and HKS OG exhaust for CR-X modded to fit:

Front chin - 89 Integra trimmed to fit:

JDM shuttle lights/corners:

Right now it's rolling on 14'' meshies, but I'm having these wheels pictured below painted - spokes will be matte black finish:

Little did my dumb *** know that when I pulled the bols out of the 3-piece Black Racing wheels that I'd have to have them resealed, so I'll be rolling on 15'' steelies for a week or two until I get the Black Racing wheels finished with new tires on them.

That's all for now - maybe I'll get some better "photoshoot" style pics once the new wheels/tires are mounted!

Yes. "Cult" car for sure. I liked them since I was a child. My mom had a 1987 Civic hatch and in late '89 when she went into the Honda dealership to replace that '87 with a '90 model I begged her to get a wagon.

She got a red STD hatch instead, and I ended up with that car years later when I turned 16 - that was like 1995.

I looked randomly for a wagon for the longest time, but when I found out m wife was having our first baby I made it a mission. I paid more than most sane people would, especially the extra for having it shipped across the country, literally, but for me there was no better way to spend the money.

I've also got THE cookie-cutter popular Honda also, the EG/EH hatchback. It's my "toy" car (link in my sig to it) so this wagon is the utility daily driver vehicle that my 92 can never be.

I am also selling a super, super clean 91 DX hatch since I no longer need it for a DD since I've got 5 doors now.

Funny thing about this car is that it's so very much like my ife's car, the Element. You either love it or you hate it. Also funny is that both cars are the same color, drak grey, and both have black bumpers. Looks kind of like father/son vehicles when lined up together. I really think the Element and the CR-V have the Wagovan to thank for paving the way. Hell the CR-V RealTime 4WD debuted on the Wagovan.

Anyways I'm rambling...

Very nice. Always loved these 4th gen civic wagon too....totally understand how you feel about them....

it's great to see these cars still around in the US. We barely see any 4th gen anymore here in Quebec, east Canada. Rust won over them all. 92-95 are going soon, too. I don't remember seeing a clean daily driven 92-95 over here I'll have to go get my next Honda in the US...

I didn't even get a chance to post it anywhere online before a local H-T member and friend of mine saw/heard about it in my SV650 FS topic.

One look and drive and he is sold on it. As soon as I do a few extra things like a condensor fan motor, left axle, and get the meshies pictured on the wagon here back on the EF hatchy it will be sold to him.

If for some reason anything were to happen and he were to change his mind I'll be sure to post it FS and put a link in my signature.

Wish I could trust everyone here in H-T like that.

Congrats on the purchase!
