2001 accord v6 auto trasmission problems - what do I do?
I have been searching through this site and found a lot of threads on issues with auto trasmissions on 2001 accord v6's. I beleive that the tranny in my car (2001 accord v6 automatic) is having classic issue that is outlined here in this recall
http://www.hondatransmissionse...n.php
My car has 127k miles on it and the tranny just started slipping when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. I had it seviced at 80k miles (as outlined in the maintenance guide). However, I am afraid that my tranny may be dying
What do I do? Is there any chance that Honda might still cover this under warrenty (even though it looks like I am past the milage period)?
Also, I have heard that Honda has done a "good will" replacement for some people. Has any one been successful in getting Honda to do this.
HELP!

I did do a search through the FAQ and looked at a number of threads on this topic. I am pretty sure that I understand what needs to be done (ie new tranny). However my question is more along the lines of:
"Has anyone been able to get their tranny replaced by Honda if their milage has exeeded the 109k limit and if so can they tell me how they convinced Honda to do it?"

here's the skinny about Service Goodwill;
Are you just a warranty hound?; only go to the dealer for freebies?
have you had the car serviced [customer pay] at the local dealer?
That helps get the Goodwill.
First confirm the trans is the problem at the dealership.
The Service Manager, not the service writer flunky is the person you need to talk to.
Schmoozing helps alot "I love my Honda"......"I'd like to keep my Honda fully serviced"....."Honda is the greatest car in the world"....etc.
I've seen American Honda go 50/50 in lots of cases past warranty miles.
It's no big deal for them, they just clip the techs pay for the trans R&R.

LOL
Thanks for the tips. This is the first major issue with the car. Service records are up to date. I know it's not gonna be cheap.
