jdm 94 integra gsr
ge sleeved b18c1 with jdm b18c5 crank
crower billet rods
acl duraglide main and rod bearings
arp main and heag studs
b16a head with super tech valves, springs and retainers
skunk pro 2 turbo cams
cometic mls gasket 1.5mm
jdm itr intake mani

turbo kit:
ebay mani and dp (temporarily)
gt35r .63 exhaust housing
apexi fmic custom piping

warlboro pump
fuel rail (dont know brand but its high volume)
1000cc precision injectors
apexi powerfc (ap engineering version)

i just wanted an opinion on which pistons should i go with:
je or cp and what compression ratio 9:1 or 8.3:1 ......
we have 98 octane pump gas here and target is around 26-28 psi on pump gas
with je i can get 8.3:1 with my head and gasket thickness and 9 with cps...

plus would innovate red mounts hold up ??? its a daily driven car ....


help would be much appreciated.........

 

Between JE or CP ?

Go with JE, I have seen way to many problems with the CP pistons. I myself would look into wiseco or aries.

 

i've had great luck with CP, my current set is 81.5 9:1 .

any reason why u want the powerfc?

If you have access to such high octane pump gas, why in the world would you run an 8.3:1 compression?? Higher octane fuels like that would allow you to run a higher static compression while still running a good amount of boost. With something as low as 8.3:1, you'd have crappy off-boost response especially with a larger turbo like the GT35r. I wouldn't be as concerned with the brand as i would the compression ratio.

The guy who ownes CP use to work for JE. He left and started his own Co.

 

what about the endyne pistons ? anyone run those ?

Brand really doesn't play a huge role. If i were any of you guys, i'd be more concerned with getting the correct compression ratio.

BTW, the Endyne's are nice because they're factory coated.

If you look on the Evans Tuning website, the ONLY piston they recommend is CP. That goes for any build from a simple 400whp build to a 900+whp build. Any good piston company (CP, JE, Endyne) is going to work for that kind of power...at that point, its all preference and tuning. Again, i would be less concerned with the particular brand and more concerned with picking the correct compression ratio for your goals. Couple a good compression, proper fuel and a competent tuner and you wont have any problems.

Im Running Wiesco... I use to run CP until i chiipped a valve relief and it messed up my head and sleeves

 

from my experience, the JE valve reliefs are cut too far down the sides on an 81mm bore, creating a weak spot. i have used wiseco, ross and cp and they seem to be much better. i personaaly use cp now.

yeah the older model cp pistons had a valve relief issue, they have now since fixed that problem

 

just a little fyi, Endyn's Rollerwave pistons are Endyn's design but forged/produced by Wiseco and you can get them with an anti-friction coating on the side and a heat resistant ceramic coating on the top

and it was only on the smaller bore sizes...i think anything below 82mm or 83mm bc the reliefs were too thin and could crack off....i believe their way of fixing this was to make the new models with the part that used to crack off already removed and smoothed out? larger bore never had this problem bc there was plenty of meat there for it not to be an issue

Their 98 octane gas is RON instead of an average (RON+MON)/2 like our pump gasoline. So, basically, their 98 octane works out to be about 93.5 octane here. In other words, he'll blow his motor into a billion pieces if he tries to run 28 psi into a 9.5:1 motor on pump gas

 

using power fc cause i have it as in i got it with the car its easier to tune for me cause i have the datalogit software and a friend of mine has been tuning evos and silvias and other hondas using power fc. it is a pretty decent ecu.

After all I've read I still say Wiseco/Rollerwaves or Aries...you never hear about any problems with them

 

wiseco's have worked great for me. i cracked a sleeve running them and they held up nicely.

No complaints here.

 

go with low comp. wiseco's u should be good...

 

going with wisecos..... 82mm bore .... around 8:1 compression with the 1.7mm gasket i have .... would it be too sluggish off boost with 8:1 or should i change the gasket ???? and bump it up a little ????

 

I know plenty of people making 500+ on 9:1 compression like my setup. The thing is most only make 450whp on pump gas and run race gas to make anything over that. I don't think 8:1 compression alone would allow you to run 20+ psi on that turbo on 93 octane safely.

we have 98octane ... the hobc in our country is 98 octane from shell or caltex ......
the regular premium gas is like 93 pistane but the hobc is good. ...
as an example an EVO 8 with a power fc running a jdm ignition map can pull 2.2 bars of boost on our HOBC fuel .... which is 98 octane ...... i mean im not saying that i have race gas out here but 98 octane is pretty decent fuel to make some pretty decent hp .....
