Default CHEAP QUICK MONEY! Olney, MD - NEED HELP WITH LCA!

Hey, I've been trying to replace a lower control arm on the front of my CRX for a day now. Have it on jackstands, everything is ready to pull except the expletivein lower ball joint - can't get the thing separated from the control arm.

I have a new control arm ready to go. I have an electric impact and I'll pay you $50 to come out to my house and get this separated for me so I can install the other control arm.

301-774-7938

Thanks!!!

If I lived closer, id come over today. If you dont have a ball joint seperater, heres a trick for you...

Not by all means the best way, but:

Take the nut for the ball joint and screw it on the threads (not all the way, just a couple threads on)

Take a big hammer, and strike the knuckle where the ball joint goes through. Hit it a bunch of times until it pops it loose. Thats how I do most of mine.

Just make sure not to hit the LCA or the ball joint itself, that will not break it loose. Make sure you are hitting the area where the ball joint goes through on the knuckle...

Good luck if you havent tried this yet.

i take a good size hammer and hit the part where the ball joint slides in all around the ball joint but not the joint itself or the threads. that usually jars them loose,it just takes some time. also you may take one of those little jacks that come in your trunk and jack up on the lca some to get some pressure then hit it.

if all else fails a crowsfoot will work but i hate those things they tear up the bearing.
if my method works ill give you my paypal

Man, I'm feeling half retarded. I ended up paying some local craiglist backyard monkey to hit it with a hammer 5 times and get it popped.

I should have just seen that I was getting a bad angle myself, but oh well.

Thanks guys, in the future I'll ask first and go that route later
