Default 4-1 header opinions?

Hey guys I'm doin a 4-1 header on my gsr and need some opinions on who to go with, people tell me to go with DC but then other people say they rust to fast and warp also. Go Greddy people say but I can't find a 4-1 from greddy and can't find any mugen or spoon headers. So if anyones runnin a good 4-1 header and its workin good for them let me know. Thanks

Have you fully considered the ground clearance issues with a 4-1 header? I have seen many of them damaged by bottoming out.

Do you have any goals in mind? If you're going to boost in the future, you don't need a header...

the ceramic dc sport headers rust, I never her anything about the stainless steal rusting.. but If your going boost in a couple years, If i was youI'd would just just buy a Greddy header or even a ITR header, a used one and save you some money!.. I got mine for like $200...and I like it.. cant wait to replace it though w/ rsr!

I ordered the DC 4-1 Headers a few days ago as well. Although, I'm not certain whether they are stainless steel. I purchased them through Top Speed Racing in Sacramento, CA for $310.00. I'll be watching this thread closely for opinions and experiences from other members.

It's a little late for that isn't it? I think you should have read about them before you ordered it... lol
I have a DC ceramic I got used for $50. It gets the job done.

Any reason you are sticking with a 4-1 header? There are numerous 4-2-1 headers on the market which will provide good results, and have better ground clearance then a 4-1 style header.

True, I should've researched more thorougly before purchasing. The Header has not arrived at the store yet, I can always cancel and ask for a refund.

No reason in particular. It was suggested that I purchase the 4-1. Although, the fact that the 4-2-1 gives better ground clearance is something worth considering. Would you happen to have any recommendations?

Thanks for the feedback. Have a great day.

I've always been a huge fan of Edlebrock headers. their kinda pricey but i've seen em go glowing red hot repeatedly and never crack or discolor. These headers also have bigger primaries than may other headers(from my reading at least) and flow exceptionly well. Domestic crowds got a few things figured out right!!

Nice! I found a JDM ITR 4-1 Stainless Steel at Street Imports for $199.00. That's way cheaper than the DC 4-1 header I paid for.

Now, my questions:
1. Will this cause problems with ground clearance?
2. What are the Pros & Cons in comparison to the DC 4-1 Header?
3. Street Imports says the JDM ITR 4-1 SS Header is an exclusive item to their website @ $199.00. I found the same JDM ITR 98 Spec 4-1 header @ Password JDM @ $459.00. Would you reccomend a particular website for buying this item? "EBAY GO!"

Thank you for your input.

From the mild dyno builds i've seen a good 4-2-1 will make more power than the 4-1 Dc's. The higher end headers like Toda and Hytech do make the most power but that collector they use to make it rules out the use of a factory cat. If you want a straight bolt on the Edelbrock is made perfectly and pounds the DC in like every possible way. Ground clearance is insane for a header, tucks right up. Complete trouble free install and as far as i know the most powerful header without going into the higher end stuff that requires some type or another of modification. Also, if you're stuck on a JDM ITR be careful, there are a lot of junker parts out there with the JDM label on them. Unless you can see touch and feel i would feel much better with a trusted brand like Greddy or Edelbrock when it comes to the header i bolt on.

Idk how to explain the mysterious phenominon but using dc sport 4-1 really gave some power gains even with a horrible leak

Thanks for the response.

If I add on a JDM ITR 4-1 SS Header, it seems I'll have to get a new catback or exhaust system. Is this correct? Of course, none of this is really necessary. But it seems like alot of horsepower will be trapped withought a proper catback / exhaust system to compliment the header. Is my logic on the right track? LOL.

These are just more questions to further my research before I purchase more items. I'm sure you're all aware that I'm a "newb," but not "n00b."

If you want stainless check out the Greddy header for our GSR's it also fits great and does not require any modification to the cat. I did a whole bunch of reading on these a month or two ago and ruled it down to 2 in the bolt on market, Greddy and Edelbrock. I personally don't see why anyone uses a ITR 4-1 on a stock motor, i mean better choices exist. A real ITR i could see because the quality is great but some of these copies..why? BTW the good 4-2-1s don't just have better ground clearance, they make more power.
