Default 2 front lower motor mounts - I ripped the rubber part?

How easy is it to replace the rubber part for the 2 front lower mounts? I was taking them out and the rubber ripped.

I need to have the car ready to re-install the engine in 4 weeks and needed to know how important they are and if I need to replace?

Some people opt not to run them with the install of a 3 piece kit like Hasport, but I would never run without the front two torque mounts. They are important IMO.

Its not too hard, just two bolts hold the mount to the car, and the mounts slide onto the front lower brackets and are secured with one nut.

#14 and #12 are the front two engine mounts:

well I have the hasport mounts at my house ready for install upon engine rebuild haha.

Id like to run the front two however for good measure. Where can I get these inserts?

Im a little skeptical about using inserts if the mount is completely torn. I have the Mugen mount kit, and I took it a setp further and filled in the empty spots of the mounts with 3M window weld. That is an easy fix as well.

well with the hasport kit, I probably wouldn't need them anyway, but want to for good measure.

Could I just buy the rubber mounts from Len?

Yeah, I'd definately get them through Len. There was one other small company that made the front two torque mounts in similar style to the Hasports, but I cant remember the name. Thats only if you wanted stiff torque mounts as well, but with the Hasports and OEM fronts it should be fine.

See if you can get your hands on some JimFab mounts, They are worth it.

What a nice idea!
I wish I had more time and a garage to work on the car in.

If you get a chance can you take a picture?

Yesterday while doing some minor work I noticed I need both #s 12 and 14. Both of mine are toast. I'm planning getting the Mugen kit unless I can find some jim fab mounts. Too bad he isn't making them anymore

Doing this will make the mounts rather stiff. Its really simple with a fresh tray of ice cubes, the window weld does not stick to them so you can form the mounts really nice and press the window weld into the mounts using the ice cubes.

Let me know if you would like some more pics.

Now these were filled after installing the Mugen mounts correct? *Rather than filling to repair the tears.

I actually filled them prior to ever installing them. I bought them new. It was more for the reason to prevent any cracking whatsoever, but in hindsight I probably should have just filled the front two, and went with a Hasport kit, which I'm about to do.

I just installed Prothane 'Race' inserts the other day... The rear mount sucked, had to drop the subframe a few inches to properly do it. The other two, are cake.

Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference. Turning over 4th gear without a hint of wheel hop, is a good feeling.

With these mounts do you guys get a noticeable amount of vibration in the cabin? It got pretty bad in a few cars I've worked on with the dash vibrating and making noise I had to just pull the inserts back out.

X2. I would suggest replacing all of them though. If the rubber deteriorating caused it to break easily then the others may be on the way out too.

Yea I'm going to replace both front lower rubber mounts. As for the other three, I have the hasport set, so no worries there, other than a little rattle at stop lights haha

Does Hasport make the front 2 also? It might be better to keep them all the same, otherwise there might be some side effects from the different stiffness of the mounts.

I noticed mine were torn/deteriorated when I was working on it. What a difference new ones make!

Well honestly, I've been reading more that people with the hasport mounts aren't even running the front two, so running stock should be fine. But I am still going to replace them with new.

I might even make them solid, but don't know if it's even worth it right now haha. I have waaay too much to get done between now and mid-March. I gotta get the motor back from being built in 4-5 weeks and pretty much install everything by mid March and hopefully make my tuning appointment in April with Jeff Evans....we will see!

Yes, but I have the 'Race' grade mounts, the stiffness is MUCH greater than the 'Street'. The 'Race' are red, the 'Street' are black. Get blacks if you're concerned about vibration.

I personally don't care, I like the vibration in the cabin, I can hear everything better.
