So i Watched Fast And The Furious last night 2
Yeah but seriously all FnF jokes aside. I have a nitrous kit from my last car sitting in my closet and im thinkin its time for the SI to get in on some of the action.
I reviewed all my options and i feel nitrous would work best with this car as oppposed to turbo/sc(that's my opinion) plus the fact i already have a kit makes me slightly partial. I had a 40 shot in my old car(01civicEX) wit no problems...coulda takin to a 60 or even 75 shot but thats when i traded it in.
Now this car has a bigger much stronger engine so it should stand up to a little nitrous no porblem. Its a new car so im not planning on passing the 50 mark without major preventive measures. I was thinking just a 40 shot to add that much desired torque. My question is, extremely high compression engine+nitrous=???kaboom...even in small doses? What about with i/h/e and reflash...even bigger kaboom? Or should it handle it. Anyone who knows there **** please chime in.

I'd say get this thread locked, and start a new one with a relevant title so you actually get people that know about nitrous to look at it.
To be honest the only reason I looked at this thread was because I wanted to see how ridiculous of a post it was going to be. You actually have some valid questions though...

First to the OP, I am pretty sure 50 is no big deal. I wouldn't push it more than that, but I can't give you a definite answer, just my gut feeling.
But the only I posted on this thread is to respond to burnout8488. Hey, your signature says "Saturn Vuetec". Does that mean you have the Vue Redline with the Honda V6? Is so, how does that thing drive. I have always kinda liked them, and they are the only Saturn I would ever consider owning.

I feel kinda bad about responding to this in this thread, but whatever.
Yeah, its an 05 FWD Non-redline. All 04-07 Vue V6's redline and non redline have the Honda V6.
It's pretty quick :-) Sucks that the interior is kinda crappy because its a saturn, but the engine more than makes up for it. Pilot engine FTW. Dyno'd at 217hp/210ft-lbs.

I wouldn't shoot the NOS, brah.... Even with the smallest shot, you want to pull two degrees of timing, imo....
your adding a ton more cylinder pressure and have the same amount of timing as stock = not good for the engine....
Engines with lower cr are more resistant to knock also combined with the fact that premium fuel is used where regular is recommended make NOS more safe even when timing remains stock.

Very cool. I thought that only the redline got the Honda V6. Even better for you! Then, what distinguished the Vue Redline from yours? I thought the Redline is a mainly engine upgrade. I know they add aero kits and badges, but the Ion Redline is pretty much the same thing as a Cobalt SS. And I am pretty sure the Vue Redline didn't have a supercharger

For the record, The title is in response to the fact everytime i post a topic involving nitrous i get barraged* with anti-N2O comments and played out FnF jokes.
Valid points JJbean but do u really think i would have to change the timing for a 35-40shot. And a Greddy turbo kit with 6-7psi doesnt seem too drastic so i would think a properly installed wet kit...even 50 shot stock -i/e should be a safer option.
Thats just my opinion if im wrong let me know.
Are there any reasons that make nitrous dangerous with the high compression k20z3 unique from turbo/sc?

I don't know any company out there that puts out a 35-40 shot......unless your talking about NX
if so, NX rates there shots to the wheels so it's more like a 50-60 shot.
I'm not familiar with greddy turbo kit for the FG but I bet it does pull timing per lbs of boost.
You probably would be fine with a 50-60 shot and no timing retard but it's a chance, imo.....
What you could do instead of pulling timing is........ Add a gallon or two of UNLEADED race fuel to a 1/4 or less tank of 93. That would raise your detonation threshold similiar to reducing timing
