theres a button right about where your right knee hits the dash that you have to press in when the car is at ACC, like it says in the owners manual

turn the key to the ON position where the gauge cluster lights up. theres a button under the dash a bit to your right probably close to where your knee would be. hold it and itll turn off.

the maintenance reqd light is just a reminder to do your maintenance.

because it is a maintenance light... light that comes one when you need maintenance... like oil changes... that people usually do on their own...

Yeah it usually comes on after like every 25-40k miles for more of the major maintenance like timing belt, transmission fluid, etc.

I know there is nothing that needs to be done to the car the mechanic that worked on it last was too stupid to shut off the light when done, and i didn't want to take it back to them just to have it turned off, it is off now thanks for the help.

You mean 5k miles, and no mine doesn't come on that often, maybe because i never go past 4k miles in between oil changes, so far mines only come on at 40K and 80k miles. I believe if it glows yellow that's an indicator to perform a scheduled maintenance, it it glows red you've gone over the scheduled maintenance by a certain mileage.

Owner's manual says between 6000 and 7500 miles and it is just a reminder. It will come on no matter what.

Cutting any OEM wire is generally a bad idea. That is how people end up with hacked up wiring harnesses and looms that look like a rat's nest.

That light has NO idea if the water pump needs replacing.

It's the "Oh no's! The light turned RED!!! I'm goin' to the dealership" light.

It is Honda recommended to change the oil every 7500 miles, because most people don't drive their cars except to commute... Are you sure your light doesn't come on every 7500 miles?

Im sure they don't come on that often cause i am constantly checking my temps, oil pressure, mileage, etc.

And I change my oil every 4k miles cause I drive my cars like they are stolen If I babied my cars and didn't drive through dusty country roads then yeah maybe I would go 7500 miles between oil changes.

It doesnt matter how often you change your oil. You could change it every day and it still should come on between 6000 and 7500 miles. (Read your owners manual.) Where's Dogg for some legit information?

Get the wiring diagram and cut the correct wire, its just a timed light just like an alarm clock with a primitive concept.

i never said it sensed it, but it comes on at the ~90k interval, its an interval based light not sensor based

Yeah, and it comes on every 7500 miles or so to remind you change your oil. That is all, nothing more.
Stop posting all this bullshit. Read your owner's manuals.

0-4000 miles - stays on for two seconds
4000-6000 miles - flashes ten times, then turns off
6000 miles+ - stays on indefinitely

the mileage may not be perfectly presice. but I am pretty sure thats how it works.
Its really nothing more than a timer to tell you when you need to change your oil. its not some magical sensor that can tell theres new oil in the system. YOU have to reset it, unless you take your car to a honda/Acura dealer to change your oil, in which case THEY will most likley reset it for you. as for reseting the light, there is a button located under the driver side dash, on the right side of the stering wheel, turn the ignition to ACC on, push and hold the button till the maintenance light flashes and then turns off "problem" solved
