Default Help on tires and rims specs and your experience??

1) I want to buy new tires before i go back to the track, last time i ran with my stocks and wore out the fronts and replaced them. Now I am considering either Bridgestone Potenzas RE-01R or Goodyear Eagles F1 GS-D3 i like Goodyear because they are cheaper but i hear people say the side wall is really soft, is that true in your experience?

2)Also i want to buy lighter wheels but how would the tire fit if i use a wider rim like 17"X8" when the recommended tire size stays the same 215/45R17 for 17X7 and 17X7.5 wheels. And if the tire stretches over to fit a wider rim is it bad/please explain?

3) I want light weight under 16lbs rims any suggestions, i was looking into Enkei Racing line RM+S but they are not forged but gravity cast, would they run out of round fast or should i consider a lot pricier Forged rims?

1. Either RE-01s or Falken RT615s
2. You'll be fine with 215s on a 17 x 8
3. Enkei RPF1s, they weigh 16lbs at 17 x 8 and you can get a set thru Evasive Motorsports for 1038 shipped.

Happy hunting.

Wow this forum works fast! Thanks for the info!
Does anyone know about the difference in how the wheels are made if they are gravity cast or forged make them more resistant to go out of round or just the price difference?

nitto nt01's are a great tire for track. i personally have never used them but my friends use them and love them. i also know the guy that tested the prototype nt01 and he said it is an amazing tire

rpf1's are a great rim. im getting those or xd-9's.

I can't post links because I'm on my iphone but you can go to http://www.tirerack.com and look up the stats on some different light weight rims and track tires there.
And BTW welcome to Honda-tech man

I ran the Goodyear GS-D3 at the track last year and hated them. They had good grip but as you said they have very soft sidewalls and were kind of spooky feeling.

I also would go with RPF1's, in fact I just ordered a set of 17x8 from http://www.gtmotoring.com/. Talk to greg and he will beat that price listed above, also tell him korea/nathan sent ya.

well the tire that i have is supposed to have a slight bit of that curb stopper on the tire and NO the rim sticks out more then the tire so if i ever hit a curb it would be all rim. to me IMO its a big stretch maybe not to some. the look is good and performnace of them is ok too but a 225 might make my ride a bit more confy.
